NGD - New Guitar Day!

Post by Genebaby »

I am trying really hard to cut back, really I am, so a NGD doesn't come up that often anymore but after a couple of weeks of resisting it, I couldn't hold back anymore and bought this baby today.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0533918752

Just got to arrange shipping and set her up when she gets here. I intend to use this one live with the new band.

I am going go sell my Desert Crackle Charvel Spectrum now as I don't really need that one, it was an off the cuff purchase back when I was more stricken with GAS (guitar acuquisition syndrome).

Did you burn things as a child???? You have a fetish for flames!!
Promises made, crying in vain, all empty. Never accepting the blame and not letting go of the shame. A river of tears, as months turn to years, all wasted. On someone not willing to change. Now only a shadow remains! :(

I say go for the Lynch Yellow Strat unless you always play with a strap and standing up

Actually , "V's "are quite comfortable while sitting down. Jam the bottom wing(s) between you legs and the guiar rests in a pseudo classical guitar position. I cut my teeth on a "V".

Rick,
VVV shape isn't as comfortable as a Gibson Flying V or a Silvertone Apocolypse in the classical position that you mention if you are heavier and or have thicker thighs. The bottom cut isn't as wide and frankly it's a pointy guitar. Teej and Vinnie are slender built dudes so it works better for them but for a bigger or heavier person it doesn't work quite as well.

I agree with you that the ESP V will work fine in the classical position but I still personally prefer that Lynch Strat over the V. Just for my style and I have both shapes.

Thanks guys, I'm pretty damn excited. This is great guitar buying at that price.

Been looking at it all week and finally pulled the trigger after talking to the guy a bit.

Can't wait to show the guys in the band, they are gonna freak.

I know, I looked it up and decided against going for the drive. It's going to have a bus trip to my work during the week. I've gotten guitars via Ebay this way before, very good pricing.

I too would go for the Lynch out of those two.

I would also keep looking for a USA or even Japanese Charvel now. Charvel put out the Production Models a few years ago which are USA made, of which this one is a special edition graphic, but now they are doing the same kind of thing in Japan again for a bit less.

I saw the Japanese ones reviewed in a UK magazine.

How much is it for the bus trip?
..and is that to Canberra?
..and is it tagged at all so can't be lost?

It's a pretty cool system. It can either be dropped off at a bus depot and travel to another depot or they can arrange couriers at either end for pickup and delivery.

In this case I have arranged for it to be picked up at his place tomorrow and it will end up at the Canberra City terminal, which is just over the road from where work so I'll pick it up from there as I have done before. For this it's costing me $26.

It is tagged and has a Consignment number, just like regular freight. They started doing this a few years ago to utilise empy luggage space. It's a very relaxed way for stuff to travel.

This baby arrived safe and sound today. The service with Greyhound was great as I was ringing a lot to find out when it was due to arrive and got here just before lunch so I went over and got it.

Soooo cool. I was showing everybody. I'm just in the middle of setting it up for the higher tension of my strings and for standard tuning.

Luckily I got tomorrow off to go to the Royal Canberra Show (think fun fair) with Serena and my brother and nephew, so a little play time will also be in order before we go out.
