I was reading the Vince Neil Boigraphy last night and he mentions in 1 chapter how they took Tommy from Suite 19 which had Greg Leon in it - he then went on to form the Greg Leon invasion - Vince states that Greg then sold the Invasion name to Vinnie.
Greg is now using the name Invasion again - does this mean Vinnie sold or lost the rights to the Invasion name. ??
Sorry if this hasd been talked of before but i didnt know this.
Can anyone shed light on this for me?

When I interviewed John Covington I asked him about Vinnie Vincent using the Invasion name, and he said it really took the wind out of the band. What is your take on what happened there?
GL: Yea it knocked the piss right out of us. I had been using The Greg Leon Invasion name for about five years at that point and one morning, about 8 a.m., Ron Fair from Vinnie's record company called and told me they were going to use the name Invasion and I had to stop using it. He got real shitty on the phone with me, I told Ron that he should be talking to my lawyer and not me. He laughed and said who would that be? I said Stan Diamond, I think you know who he is, and why are you treating me like shit? What did I ever do to you?
We reached an agreement and I let him use the name for seven years. Before Vinnie took the name I could pack any room in Los Angeles and after the name change nobody knew when I was playing! I think we called it Marshall Law right after that for about 6 months. That's why the last Greg Leon Invasion record is called "Unfinished Business", I've got to finish what I started.

Yes, I had heard about the initial "taking" of the Invasion name from Greg. It would have been the old DoubleV board, or maybe even Pyro's before that. Had no idea Greg was using it again, good on him.
I don't think this matters to Vinnie. It is said that V's manager, would have been George Sewitt, heard the first album and said "This isn't music, it's an Invasion!", but that's probably just a good story. In the 80's it was decided that Vinnie's "solo" vehicle should be a band, hence the VVI was born with band members. This happened to Ace as well (at least until Trouble Walkin') so maybe George had something to do with it. By the end Ace was just billed as Ace Frehley and Vinnie probably would have ended up the same way.
Let's face it, Vinnie is suited to picking and choosing backing musicians as required and any future releases just being released under the name Vinnie Vincent. The Invasion as we know it has been dead for over 20 years.

Greg Leon said Vinnie only had the name Invasion for 7 years and it returned to him, but when I asked him last year he basically said he didn't have much memory anymore.
