Sorting through my old Kerrang! issues from 30+ years ago, came across issue #37, from March 10th 1983, and the first picture/write-up we got of Vinnie.
Apologies if this has been posted before.
yes very strange that they didn't give up on Ace. What a weird thing if Ace had played a little on lick it up.
An odd time for kiss structure so you can kind of see why VV didn't get paid mega money (even though he did well) as Ace was still an owner of the band.
Still a great time for the band.
Interesting Ace was to produce the first WASP record? news to me
I'm thinking the WASP thing was just made up, there was a lot of that crap going on back then. Ace was no producer, but it looks good in print to make him busy and active, rather than sitting out home and missing the tour for no reason.
WASP may have wanted to use him for some hype. I know Ace was talking about producing Skid Row in late 80s for a while which would never happen. He could have been added as an EXEC PRODUCER i guess if they wanted some attention from kiss fans but ace fans back then were scarce i would say.
now Vinnie could have made it as a great producer. I would have loved to hear him take on a producing project and maybe co-wrote with a band. I think producing would have been a great gig for vv apart from the labels wouldn't let him do it with his poor reputation and history of overspending in recording but if he could have ironed out that he would have had a career as a producer I have no doubt.
