Bon Jovi New Jersey Tour 1988

Post by AlanF »

I remember reading in Circus magazine that VV were due to open up for Bon Jovi on part of the US leg of their New Jersey album tour, however, guitarist Richie Sambora took one look at Vinnie at rehersals, and said 'How do I follow THAT?!'..........and subsequently, they were 'dropped' from the tour (before it even began)
Is this true or was it the usual spin that magazines made up to get fans talking?

Hi Alan. I never heard about non Jovi. it but I used to work for magazines and a few things at play.

1. They always misquote and get stuff wrong

2. Publicists like to send rumours like that to get artists in magazines. Hinting at stuff.

I am not sure where richie would have seen vv rehearsals but I suppose it's possible but seen as I never heard it before my guess very little chance it was true.

VVI split before new Jersey was released so now I think no way true or only parts were true.

At time was also reports vv and nikki sixx were writing together which appears not to have happened and uk magazines were saying vv was writing the smash crash and burn soundtrack for brunette which later appeared to.be incorrect as it was Dana and i think mark but not vinnie. I guess they met when brunette opened for vvi. Just like Bobby rock met Jim Gillette while opening for vvi.
