Section for Vinnie covers and adaptations ?

Post by FREDDYB3 »

Genebaby ?

If someone wants to start the "VVFF plays VV" or "Vinnie covers and adaptations"
section, would they post right here in the Musicians corner along with all the other original material
or will there be a separate section/header for that ? Seems like there should be a separate section,
where a separate thread can be created for a particular song, for people to comment on and add their version too. If that makes sense ? Yes / No / Maybe ? They were separated in the lounge originally, but have been since locked.

Hi man, I was thinking that this is for anything and everything to do with our music. Covers, originals, what have you, go for it.

An appropriate sound effect for describing the response to this thread. LOL

Im my opinion, that tab of "Fits" is wrong in a bunch of places, especially the ascending climb at the end.
I sat down with the "Amazing Slow Downer" a few years ago and sort of figured it out,
the guy on the U-Tube link in the KissFaq thread does it more or less correct. exactly the same notes
and phrasing that I managed to get...albeit, I can not play it quite as fast as V does... but I play a 70s Les Paul
with a fairly Fat neck and those speed licks can be pretty troublesome on a fat neck...need an ibanez or jackson I guess..Cool Thread anyway! more of this please!! /O

Al is an excellent guitarist who perfectioned a lot of techniques,Allan did create a whole new concept of playng both chords, melodies and solos.Unfortunately ,that doesn't mean that is music is listener friendly.

Funnily enouhg one is known for his picking technique ,the other one for his legato. Both amazing in their fields.

I still prefer one of Vinnie biggest idols, music wise-Jeff beck, still creating "WTF?" moments among guitar players......

Ok this section was supposed to be for VV covers and adaptations and so far we haven't gotten to many to join in the merriment. With the exception of the Shramster's contribution and the unknown "Fits" guy that Rick posted.
So here is some more "Sloppy Streets" to go along with the wardens sound bite. This was recorded on a laptop webcam tonight with zero editing. Sorry for the phasing in the audio but it's the only recording device I have at the moment. The guitar is my newest edition and just got it last Friday night, the amp is a single speaker practice amp. Crate GX-15, the amp has no effects, no reverb and no sustain LOL Hope you get a kick out of it, that was the idea when Uncle Kev suggested this thread...Don't be afraid to pull your shorts down and have a little fun with it. Headphones will help the audio ever so slightly. Click on the image to watch.

Nice work, Fred !!!!!

It would be nice to have the music without the leads on it. Kind of like what Steve Vai did a few years back with the Naked Tracks box set.

Thanks Vic,thanks Shram.. ..The guitar plays pretty well. It has some aspects that I like and some that I
don't. It's a flat mounted Floyd, so no pulling up, that's why I didn't use the bar for any of the bends or vibrato, it is a shorter scale 24 3/4, I never thought I would be able to tell that much difference but I can feel the difference and it's 22 frets and a straight 12 radius. It's the only guitar I have with those specs. So it's something different.

Frederik,
Nice job brother. When we were originally talking about doing this I sat down and fooled around and recorded some stuff on my IPAD. I then attempted to do some editing unsuccessfully as my basic software on Windows is a bit confusing to the old man but I will hopefully get some time to try to figure it out sometime. So here we are a month later of working 60 hours per week and I haven't been playing any guitar since early February and really have had much less time to visit here and keep up with things. What I had hoped that this thread would be was that we would let ourselves be a little vulnerable out there and just pick up a guitar and do something with no background music just completely unforgiving. Shram did this but it was audio only. (This ones for Rick :-) ) Fred did a video which was cool but we unfortunately didn't get to really see Fred or hear his voice. When you think about it some of us have been internet friends for as much as 13 years and though we have shared pictures and opened up our Facebook we have never even heard each others voices which frankly is sad. I will share with you guys one of the Kev Slopfests from a month ago this weekend. Just me in my music chair, no background music, no much needed metronome no effect pedals nothing but me and every wrong note LOL :-) We will get to know each other and you will hear my nasally Italian Voice. Some of you sons of bitch's can really play like a mother fucker and I'm not a great player but here it comes bitches. I hope that all off you will step up and let the rest of your VVFF Family check "Yo Shit Out"! I know that I will learn something from all of you! Great Job Andrew and Fred! Both of you are courageous mutha fuggahs and your Uncle Kev has got your backs. Here comes the gigantic pile of putrified how to sloppiness to introduce myself.

Where are our friends Vic, Dannii, PW, Richard Edward and Teej?

Thanks Kev,

Any contribution that you or anyone else would like to make will be thoroughly enjoyed by me. Regardless of skill level or content. None of us are rock stars, just friends sharing our love of guitars and Vinnie's music. What a better place to do it then at the VVFF ?? I have enjoyed your previous video's immensely as well as Andrew's audio and Trevor's past video's. I agree, it sucks that we are all spread out all over the globe, but thankfully we have the internet to connect us. I hope to do more of these, just because I enjoy it and it's a great way to waste a few hours on a weekend or on a cold, rainy east coast night like we had last weekend.

As for my video there is plenty of sloppiness and wrong notes to be heard...don a good pair of headphones and see if you can find them all... I'll give you a hint... the entirety of both solos. Who cares, it was fun trying.
Next time I will try to speak to the peeps and introduce myself. :-)

OK, for this I used a Dean 25th Anniversary American Made Cadillac played through a Marshall Combo JCM 2000 Triple Super Lead Amp with some reverb. I used no pedal effects or signal modification. On the posts that I upload I will try to give a little explanation within my limited scope of musical understanding as to what I think that I'm doing in my adaption of what I think that I hear in the music LOL :-) Let's all try to have some fun with this as it is nothing more than paying our respects to the individual whose music brought us all together. Vinnie Vincent to me is one of the most talented guitarist who ever lived and I only wish that we could have heard and experienced more of his art in our lifetimes. If there was more of his music available it would only further add to his legend!
