NGD - Ibanez content

Post by n3p »

So, I traded 3 Charvels plus a wad of cash for something much uglier. I think it's quite rare, but it plays like an absolute demon so I can overlook the paint :)

Anyway, here are some pics:

Never been a fan of them personally, but once I had a play I knew I had to buy it regardless of the look! Otherwise I'd have bought that pink RR5 instead 8)

Those thin necks surely change the sound ? I heard Jason Becker say that those Ibanez necks were his favourite but he chose not to work with Ibanez in dlr because he wanted to break with what vai used.

Hard to say really, the high output pickups on the guitar seem to be the biggest difference to me. I'm just liking how fast the neck is, the action is also low.

BTW I saw a guitar in the store that immediately made me think of you. Didn't get a pic unfortunately, but it was a Fender custom shop strat....Walnut body! By any chance did you own it at some point? :)

It looks like it should be licked and taste like caramel (like a rainbow Paddle Pop for those not in Oz).

I like the look of Steve's white one, but haven't played one. I love my Charvels, the necks are perfect.

Dino you'd like the short lived Jem 7 in the fabulous Root Beer colour!

Picture doesn't work but that sounds a dream. Brown 7 string. Vai annoyed me with so much magazine coverage in late 80s but I like him now.

Sweet !, ya pretty rare. All guitar values are down due to economy and mass production but that one will always hold its value.
I am not a huge fan of the Jem but still very cool.

The white and gold ones are being copied in china and sold as real ... watch out if you get offered one.

I was going to buy one of these but I bought a Marshall Jubilee instead. I'm glad I bought the Marshall but still regret not having enough money for this guitar.I found it USED for under $700.00 in the early 1990's. One of the rarest Jems.

Local music store had one back in early 89' but I couldn't afford it at the time. It was browner than this one.
