JSS = no interest

This post has been up since the end of August and this is the first response. DAMN. His singing on the Vinnie tunes is atrocious and out of tune. My opinion and also fact. No charm at all.

Meet Jeff Scott Soto when he come to Sydney Australia to do a night of Queen Covers & then a second night of his original stuff (think abot 5 years ago). Spoke to him the second night about Vinnie & he said quote, unquote, 'Vinnie, he's a strange cat, always wanted me to sing high' He seemed pretty cool. He's sort of got that Anthony Robbins too happy, full of himself thing going on. But like i said he seemed Ok.
I got Jesus in my fax machine. I saw Ho Chi Minh down @ Burger King. I dated Vinnie Vincent as a Drag Queen. I still don't understand a f**kin' thing.
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass and I'm all out of bubble gum.

I met him at a Journey show before they got rid of Steve Augerri. Nice guy but... That also explains why he sucks so much on those tunes , HE CAN'T SING IN A HIGH REGISTER IN PITCH !!!

JSS is a great singer, he just isn't suited to singing like Robert or Mark.

I wouldn't kick him out of my band.

Well, I am that very Dead Ripper who did this interview. Great to know that people read what I did back then. Thanks for your interest.

Wow, never knew Soto was in Kryst The Conqueror... Jerry Only and Doyle's from The Misfits' band (or that HE was Kryst?)

This band lineup was just so odd to me... Doyle and Jerry from the Misfits with Scott Soto. I guess the guys from the Misfits were listening to alot of Yngwie around this time: :)

I personally am a big fan of Jeff's. I think he is a great vocalist and he is versatile.
It's just that he is a full voice singer and not a falsetto kinda guy. Robert and Mark are
almost all falsetto. So in that way, I agree that JSS is not suited for VVI or Vinnie's music
as long as Vinnie wanted that type of vocal style. Talisman, the band that Jeff was doing with
Marcel Jacob (R.I.P, also w/Yngwie in '85) is one of my favorite bands. Especially, the "Genesis"
record, "Life", as well as the "Humanimal" records. Jeff is a hard working guy and has done a ton of
stuff, in bands, solo stuff as a well as project bands and of course the Rock Star soundtrack with Mike Matijevic of "Steelheart". I really like most of what he has done. I had a chance to meet Jeff twice actually, the 1st time at a place called the "Birchmere" in Virginia and the 2nd time at the "Trocadero" in Philadelphia.
Both times were with the band "Soul Sirkus" with Neal Schon, Virgil Donati and Marco Mendoza. Both times we did the meet and greet and Jeff was one of the most down to earth, cool guys you ever wanna meet.

I agree ! The two Eyes records were ok, but the song just weren't that good.
With a few exceptions like "Wired for Love".
