Paint it pink or not?

Post by tukoztukoz »

...that is the question!
I have this RR1 with a few scratches, dings, small crack close the low E tuner. I’ m thinking about painting it pink, just like one of Vinnie ´s pink RRs. Something reversible, easy to remove, just in case...
Didn’t Vinnie paint his RRs himself, after all ?

Jackson painted Vinnies, as he sent them back, we were told. Though even they just seemed to paint over the top. Maybe that was the KISS way at the time, they were short on money and Paul sometimes gave a guitar a new paintjob for a new tour/look, rather than getting an all new guitar. So maybe they were told to just do a quick paint over job?

If I was going to make a guitar pink I'd strip it down and do it right. Like, if this guitar was gold, maybe then, so it could eventually show gold as the pink wears away, but being white, that won't be the same.

Either would be cool. Maybe buy an EMG Marty Friedman bridge P/U too. His models are passive so you could probably wire it up so the neck P/U still worked and it would look more authentic.

Of course, there's that Floyd route...are we going to see the return of the Bondo King and turn that Floyd into a top mount???

Oh and an NFT Floyd too! :P :P :P

He can't top mount that Floyd, the neck angle won't take it. All power to the Bondo King but I think that is undoable.

As a tribute you can do anything you want to.

Pink or gold? Maybe both?! Then there's no need to choose 😆

I’ve found better : TAPE, then gold paint and PINK on top. The ultra VV synthesis!
