In Charvel/Jackson world the Model 4 has a regular Strat body. The other type is the Dinky, as seen above, smaller and sharper edges. Soloists have these too.

One the toothpaste logo guitars came out in 1989 they were primarily Dinky's.

Keep checking online, Model 4's would be fairly common in the US.

We picked out the paint colour today and dropped off the body for prep, but still got lots of other things to sort out and get.

Ha ha, I was, it's going to be an aqua colour my daughter likes, as she can use this guitar if she practices on her current guitar enough to warrant the upgrade.

I found those Ultrasonic pickups today and discovered they were attached to what looks like most of the Model 6 electronics, so I at least have the three mini switches I need, still sussing out if the midboost is all there, or if I will need the SPC from EMG.

Also found an EMG 89 I once had in my Model 88 Charvel and a random EMG single coil, with no homes to go to.

There is another upgrade project in the works on a Charvel I've had for a long time but done nothing with. When the parts arrive I'll post about it.

Ok, yes, I have a problem. I found a NOS Charvel case suited to the 1-4 Model series guitars....the guitar is going to look very nice and now it will have the case to suit.

Ok, here is the Model 4, finally finished.

The new neck is great and we ended up fitting the electronics as they must have been on the Model 6 when I bought it. In the pickup box I found the toggle switches for each pickup, along with tone and volume pots and some kind of boost switch.

It was a long time since I saw the Model 6 and I couldn't remember it having that configuration, but it must have. So the boost circuit has been incorporated into this guitar, along with the Ultrasonic pickups and a spare Floyd I had lying around.

I got a few parts and screws from my old mate Dave at Fretsonthenet.com and now she's alive and well.

With this original NOS case it's like having a brand new Model 4!

He used them in that Tom Anderson guitar that ,to me, looked like hair scraps on the guitar. AJFA era.

How does she play and sound? What is the neck profile like? You were pretty sober in your description how do you feel other than it is like brand new? Are you happy? Stoked?

How about some emotion Vic LOL :-)

I think that she is a beauty and I hope that you are very happy with this guitar

Ha ha, see how happy I was drinking crappy local beer?...lol....

Yes Jason, as you DO know, Kirk had this brand of pickups in one of his guitars, you can see it in the Seattle 89 video, which is a fantastic concert.

Kev, I do love this neck, it's a typically great Charvel neck, and my daughter does love it too. Whether it's enough to get her inspired to actually practice and get somewhere remains to be seen.

This guitar joins a select few of mine that have single coils, which is not my favourite setup, but it is what this guitar needed so that's ok.

Rick, Vic is trying to give that beer away in that picture. I agree with him that a BUD is a shitty beer LOL! Great picture and a great share though..........

Glad to hear that everyone likes that guitar!

Ha ha, I wanted to try it cause I was a tourist. Thanks to the This Buds For You campaign.

We get that here with some local beers too, it's just a thing.

Had a quick play of this guitar, it's really good, but I just have too many guitars now, this is another in the collection. I should do a count.

Do a count LOL :-) I thought that You, Dannii and I stopped counting LOL :-) The only guitar that I have purchased recently is a Hofner Travel Guitar. It plays and sounds good however the shape and balance is kind of odd.

Nice Kev!

Funny thing, a few years ago I was telling someone about the Fernandes Nomad travel guitars, the coolest one being the one with the built in Digitech effects unit and the flame paint job.

What did I see on Ebay a couple of weeks later?
Image

That could almost be me playing mine, but it's not, lol.

Such a cool guitar and really great action.

Other ones came with a Zoom effects unit that wasn't as cool.

There is also a version with a different name for the Japanese market.

Yeah, it's pretty good. The Japanese model name translates to Elephant, due to the look of the headstock.
