Gibson has just unveiled a new Ace Frehley model, based on his 1959 Les Paul: http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electri ... ndard.aspx

What do you guys think? I find it slightly odd to be honest, it's not exactly the guitar that is associated with Ace in contrast to the Budokan model that was released a few years back.

Yeah it doesn't exactly scream ACE FREHLEY! when you look at it.

So he's got a 59 LP, big deal, I'm guessing he got it in the more recent past as he sold them all in the 80's? Or was this one he kept the whole time?

I guess Gibson are making it because they will sell and make $$$.

He was photographed with his 59 LP in makeup and street clothes ( leather jacket and scarf) in 1978. He had yet to add the blue eye shadow to his makeup.

Strange idea for an Ace signature guitar.
Gibson should propose some W-AF-40 instead of this. Copying Washburn would be innovative.

I like the lemon brown burst though but not the figuring in wood top. Love the brown back and sides

I'll pass. I bought a new Gibson Les Paul Standard a few years back and sold it. Sounded AMAZING, but the craftsmanship was crap for a USA Gibson.
I won't buy another Gibson product.
I don't care who's name is on it.
