All my girls in one place!
Most are adopted! Only bought the left Jem & the white Washburn (my first "good" guitar) new and got the Yamaha classical from Santa!
The Petrucci Musicman and Jackson 7 were ebayers I got for under $1000 each, the 82' Ibi Destroyer was a $200 Cash Convertors (Aussie wide pawn store) buy, that I then fitted with a PAF Pro and scalloped the board(!), the right Jem was an 18 month old guitar I picked up at an auction in 93' for $750 (approx $2000 new at the time and they aren't worth the price Ibi are asking for today!) and of course that big ole beast in the middle I got from a young handsome Scotsman last year!!!!
Here's my self done scallop job.

Awesome collection Andy ! Nice work on the scallops. can you talk a little bit more about the process you used to do the scalloping ? Tools, technique , etc ?

One tool (two if you include me!), an air dremel/die grinder! Just had to watch the speed so you didn't burn the wood and then a light sanding when done. Rubbed a bit of varnish to seal.

Re: All my girls in one place!
Shram, That Destroyer actually has the perfect palate for for some UFO lights. I would dig seeing it get the NY Groove treatment as well.
You already scalloped it SO why not ?
ALSO, I wanted to tell you that I have an extra Destroyer neck (same color) just sitting here.
If you want it, just pay for shipping and you can have it

Re: All my girls in one place!
Thanks for the description Shram.... I always wondered how scalloping a neck that had inlays in it already would work ? I know this sounds dumb , but I am assuming you had to remove the inlays and then reset them once the neck was scalloped ?shramiac wrote:One tool (two if you include me!), an air dremel/die grinder! Re: All my girls in one place!
Ah gotcha.... I didn't think the inlays would be that deep, wouldn't that leave them sitting up above the surface of the removed wood after scalloping ? Or do they just get cut off with the rest of the wood ?

Just drum sand it off with the timber! Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Like I said, you got to be careful. Especially with maple as she burns easier!
And take the strings off first!!!!

LOL.....Yes I have a Dremel also...I was just trying to say that I didn't think most inlay's were cut that thick to allow them to be ground down that far. That's all I meant... Learn something new everyday.

Wouldn't be surprised if what's left is only paper thin!
