i was working with someone to clean up a building that was abandoned in 1989, i went into the garage and found a big dumpster, it was in the corner covered by furniture and other random crap, i cleared off the top and opened it and that's when i saw the top fin sticking out of the filth, the guitar had been stripped of all electronics and hardware, the neck was nowhere to be found. it was a bitch to clean off.

the owner said that some dude with black and pink hair gave it to him from a bus window in late 86 or early 87. he tried to find someone who could fix it and gave up in early 89, a couple months later the sewage line broke and the breaker box shorted out causing a small fire. he decided it wasn't worth it so he locked up and didn't think about it for for 30 years.

Interesting tale. So it's a bolt on body? What are you doing for a neck? Is it being put totally back together?

I a wondering what it is as all Jacksons were neck thru in the 80's.

i am going to try and use a lefty jackson neck or a mighty mite copy, as for the pickup i am going to use a vintage emg h2a, 1 vol, 1 boost, 1 tone. sometimes prototypes had bolt on necks i knew someone who used to have a prototype jackson king v with a bolt on neck, it got stolen unfortunately

Jackson didn't make prototypes with bolt on neck configurations for US made neck thru model guitars so this is some other kind of copy someone built.

Your friends King V would just have been a body, either an import Jackson or a copy.

We went through this with a VVV with Charvel neck that was on EBay a few times.

Once TJ's guitars are out there there will be more bolt on VVV bodies that one day someone might call a prototype.

Story smells like poo poo! Guessing the old owner was a Vinnie fan and had a failed attempt at making a VVV!!!

its not that bad, the lines are straight, the neck pocket would be covered by the neck, the only bad thing is the crack in the fin

Would be such a cool story. See now why can't things like that happen to me? Why couldn't I have been in the 80s and some guy with black and pink hair give ME a beautiful double V pink and silver guitar out a bus window?? :(
Oh wait, I know why. haha silly me. I would have been ON the bus WITH the man with pink and black hair.

You know in my dreams I would have...

well this just in, the owner just told me EXACTLY why he abandoned the v in 89, some guitar tech told him that it was made from cheap ass PLYWOOD and that it wasn't worth the time and money to fix....FUCK, but not all is lost, the guitar was free and i have a vinnie looking alternative being made, being out of $200 because a guitar was more than fake sucks. :(

This is the v's current condition, imagine that theres a filler line on the bottom right shadow fin, the neck has a black reversed headstock and the floyd holes are filled, this is not the actual guitar but it is very close to what mine looks like now
