Laid down some highfill primer on the body today, pretty much like refinishing a car.

Got the big rechargable battery for the back cavity today (12v 2AH) so i can drive these 23 halogen lights, still got a few loose ends to finish on the body then its painting time, base coat of silver then some sexy metalflake with lots of clear coat mmmmmmm

I touched a UFO today ! guitar that is....Hope Steve Carr looks down on my efforts from heaven and gives me the thumbs up on my work as its deadicated to his memory, im a huge fan of his work.
Anywayz im going all Davinci on this project and making a masterpiece of it.... LOL

Tapered the light holes for perfect fit ( man that took hours and hours )

Lights fit nice and centered now, "Like a finger in a bum " as wise man once said.

Headstock prepped for paint,

Wont be a drama im an ex panel and paint man from years gone by, worked in the trade 9 years when i was a young fella, only the front is metalflake the rest of the guitar ( neck , headstock & sides ) are black also all the back is covered by mirrored perspex plate.

No NOT finished, i blocked it down and reprimed it ( with highfill ) today then dusted a coat of Platinum Silver on just to do a mock up shot and get a look of how its coming together, pretty happy so far.will get another block rub back and some serious paint soon.

Thanks Vic, its come together very quickly.Its pretty much all paint work now so another good rub and check for any impefections and i will get some silver base coats on in prep for the metalflake which will make it pop.The electronic controller hasnt come up from Melbourne yet so still some work to do.

While im waiting for parts ive prepped a battery ( 12v rechargable ) recessed area and started to tidy up the routed area so it looks pretty when painted. ( yes the lights are in backwards, just sat them in there for sexiness )
Hurry up parts i want to get this thing off to paint ASAP !!!!!

Started laying down some gloss black on the back and neck today of the UFO, lots of wet rubbing etc etc test fitted the swish looking back mirror plate as well.

PS Thats "Hooter" my Kiss Owl taking a look too, he has an eye for detail !

Time to test my wiring harness today, just used a 2 pattern controller unit to drive it, my custom controllers have 10 patterns so can do cool funky stuff, anywayz gaze in wonder at "THE UFO" ( sunglasses required !)

Yeah I'll post some pics sometime... I've got a music room which is strictly for...music! No tv! The pinball sits in that room... I've got to get some framed posters on the wall to dress it up the room a bit...I was thinking the signed vinnie litho but I can't bring myself to frame it, so then I thought my signed vinnie laney poster from '87 but I'm not sure if I have the balls to display that pink poster on my wall

Great guitar work!!! Wow, I love DIY projects, but this is definately beyond that! Its great! I love how you can control the speed of the lights, maybe synch it up in a live show with the drums and bass, make for a very dramatic effect when you are ending a song.
