Vinnie's nails

Post by tukoztukoz »

Fingernails are part of Vinnie's gear in a certain way, because you need them for chickenpicking. I've been doing chickenpicking for a few months now, and i noticed nails have to be strong. I'd like to know more about Vinnie's nails in relation to chickenpicking. I've been searching for Vinnie's hands pics, but I didn't find many. On aeroflott's last post, I saw these :

Do you have pics of Vinnie's right hand? Can you post them here?

I don't think Vinnie necessarily relied on his nails for chicken picking, he probably just used his finger tips. I've seen the Metal Tech video where it shows his hand close up and his fingernails aren't too long at all.

Those were questions I was asking myself after having read contradictory information about you. I admit it wasn't a good idea to do so, since I didn't get any answer to these questions. So it may be ridiculous, and can be deleted, though I don't know if it's possible.

A bit too hard to tap if you have nails...... just the fingertips used in Vinnie's case.
Promises made, crying in vain, all empty. Never accepting the blame and not letting go of the shame. A river of tears, as months turn to years, all wasted. On someone not willing to change. Now only a shadow remains! :(

Guys who truly play finger style have the long nails in place of a pick.

Vinnie's style is to augment the pick with other fingertips and then also tapping like a demon.

Nails don't have to be long, but they're important if I want to get a lot of attack on the chickenpicked note. I do chickenpicking with my 3rd, 4th and pinky fingers. My pinky's nail is ok, but the other two get quickly worn. I'm thinking about visiting some nail salon one of these days, just for those two fingers. I'll have them pink

I now like pink. Ugh. Lol. I've got a real long thumb nail but I don't have a guitar

You can always start with the CASE

And some locking nuts

So you can have the Nut and the Case.

Is that supposed to be funny? Like, nut case? Because if so good job but I can name some people here much worse than my fine self. And if I had that kind of money, I'd get the guitar first.
