jackson VV measurements and angles

Post by tukoztukoz »

I’ve got half of a broken japanese double guitar that seems to be a Matsumoku production from the early eighties, neckthrough, 24 frets, kind of DiMarzio pickups. A friend found it in a garbage can and gave it to me…
I want to transform this guitar to make it look like a VV model. I checked on the internet all the different models I could find, and took some measurements (angles) from the different pictures I found.
There are a few differences between the models I saw : the pink Jackson VV with the DiMarzio neck pick-up, the 3-colored AZG Palecki, the Carvin, the mirrored Jackson VV, Drew’s VV, Shramiac’s VV, the blue « Ford » one, Vinnie’s VV…
The results of my observations figure on the following picture.
I would like to know the lengths in centimeters of the parts 1 to 13 (written in black), and the different angles of the guitar (written in blue). Can someone help me?
If you have no idea about that, what shape among all these different models do you think is the best one ?

You can send him a PM.

One thing I can tell you is that the lower shadow fin goes beneath the lower main fin.

Both shadow fins are not inside the bigger fins like in your drawing.

I think tj has exact measurements of Jackson. Also shram owns one so he may or may not pass on measurements

Grover Jackson told me that there were NO BLUEPRINTS . Everything was made by off the cuff and by eye.

There are enough pics of Vinnie's guitars to extract measurements from those.

I did a research on this forum with the word “dimensions”, and found this:

Official NAMM 2011 reports thread

Those are NOT the jackson dimensions. Those are not even the carvin dimensions. Those are new dimensions. I have looked and measured this guitar a hundred times over the last 18 years. These are the FIRST to ever have the same dimensions.

tin or gold can, which one is worth more !

My guitars are made of the exact same materials. Ofcourse, materials play little part in the collect-ability of a guitar. Authorized guitars just means someone puts there stamp of approval on the thing. NONE of the the guitars before the tm1's had the same dimensions or look. NONE. Ive looked at every picture and measured every one of them. Look at Teej's jackson. Its a real deal but the top shadow fin looks nothing like vins jackson and they were made by the same company in the same factory
.

Tj did a serious job measuring all these guitars. I feel like asking him to reveal a secret…
I think there should be more information about this guitar’s different measurements. Maybe we could draw up some blueprints for this guitar ?

The Pear and TM1 versions were a new take on the shape, with Vinnie's approval of everything.

Nobody can ever say why the Jackson's are not all identical.

I just explained why they weren't . Grover said that they free-handed them.

That's a bit messy and I don't believe it. Cases would be an issue each time.

They were a custom shop but the VVV, like their other designs, was set once Vinnie had his.

Not really. Not many were made.
