scale length / size of the Jacksons made for Vinne etc.

Post by Possio »

Hi guys,
Just wondering, I´m a Gibson player and picking up various
Jacksons I noticed they are the Fender scale lenght, right ?
But, since reading somewhere that Vinnies Guitars were 3/4 scale
in size,
custom made to fit the size of the man, ( I´m a fairly short guy myself) Im wondering if that adhered to the neck size/lenght as well ?

Anybody with a VV Custom jackson know ? Teej ? do you know how
your guitar measures comp with a regular RR1 neck ?

/Olle, Stockholm, Sweden

PS. For Vinnie if you read this?: J. Kihlberg says hello! met him
the other day!

I have a pink Jackson Soloist from 1985-86 ?

I was telling Dino that I always imagine that to be what Vinnie's guitar neck feels like. We may never know.

I'm not sure on the body dimensions of Vinnie's actual guitars, as the ones produced vary a bit. Teej's is a bit longer in the body than most other VVV's.

A Rhoads is not a large guitar to start with and a VVV is the same, small guitar but needs a big case due to the shape.

The scale length is the same as "most" other Jacksons and is the Fender scale 25.5. If you took that down 3/4 I don't know how the guitar would tune up!

TJ Monster could probably tell you some more, the one I have of his guitars is a cool size.

Vic

ps. Who's J. Kihlberg? Does he know Vinnie?

I think the safe bet is that the Jacksons, Washburn and Ibanez were 25 1/2 inch scale. Carvin usually makes 25 inch scale necks so maybe thats what the Carvin VVV is?

That would be interesting to find out about the Carvin. PRS also use the 25" scale length.

You would wonder if they did a 25.5 for Vinnie. Maybe they did as they did put one of his old Floyds on there, so maybe did the scale length too. I'm sure he would have talked to them about all this.

Perhaps he gave them a Jackson to go off?

Neck length is 18.6 inches if that makes any sence to anyone .. fretboard is 2 inches wide at the nut to 2.5 inches at the bridge (fret 22).

Top fin measures 25.5 inches and bottom fin measures 19.5 inches

Distance from floyd to nut is 25.5 inches

This mean anything to anyone ?

The basics there is that your guitar is standard Fender scale of 25.5 inches, not a bit shorter like Gibson or PRS.

Good to know. Thanks Teej.

Thanks man, but haven´t you converted to the metric system in
Scotland as by now? Anyway, if it´s easy for you to measure it
in "millimeters" too, that would be great. If its a hassle for you, no big deal.
Like you said before, seems like it´s quite a bit wider of a neck etc than
a Les Paul is.

scale length is still measured in inches, but the body dimensions are handy in mm/cm's, I can see that.
