pick ups

Post by doublev2 »

So we kind of know that vv used emg 81 then Seymour Duncan pafs in 88 . Anyone stab a guess on the added neck pick up on the silver gold and the carvin, Ibanez pear etc? Could it be a Seymour Duncan jazz?

Could also be a 59, they are a classic neck pickup.

EMG's don't usually play nice with regular pickups. You can have both together but it's usually all of one or the other.

It's to do with the impedance of the pots used by each type.

I'm always surprised that Kiss used EMG's on the very early 80s.

I put a mix of EMG bridge and PAF neck in a dual hum guitar (my red Rhoads in fact) and I had to run the neck pp through a EMG preamp then the pup selector and a single 25k(I think) volume pot to make both work ok together.

The pre amp has a little switch on it, so I used a Vinnie style one knob/two switch pickguard.
