“A Hair Metal Journey” Book - lots of Vinnie/KISS

Post by metalmike76 »

Hello all,

I just released my first book, “A Hair Metal Journey”. Vinnie comes up a lot in interviews with Robert Fleischman, Goran Edman, and Gary Shea. Bruce Kulick is in there too along with other interviews w/ hair metal rockers I did over the course of 4 years. I also tell my own story...going to concerts, trying to grow my hair, plastering my walls with posters, and all kinds of 80’s fandom as a kid.

Check it out on Amazon

Thanks for the heads up!

It's out of stock, in paperback, on the US site but if I try the Aus site I can buy it.

Cool, have to check out a copy for myself.
I got Jesus in my fax machine. I saw Ho Chi Minh down @ Burger King. I dated Vinnie Vincent as a Drag Queen. I still don't understand a f**kin' thing.
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass and I'm all out of bubble gum.

I still haven't checked this out yet. How much is there on KISS and VVI?

I still haven't gotten around to reading Desmond Child's book I got months ago.

I didn't know Desmond had a book, but hey, why not? I guess everyone is doing it.

Egos! Drama! Desmond Child, a Pop Hitmaker, Is Telling His Story.
He helped write indelible hits by Bon Jovi, Katy Perry and Ricky Martin. Now he’s written his own life story.

I'll have to check it out. His life certainly changed when he met Paul Stanley.

I enjoyed Desmond Child's book. But was somewhat disappointed that he didn't tell more stories about how he worked in the studio, the processes and more detail about how each artist was different in the way they worked. It was more about his own life events, rather than the actual process of making and recording music with these amazing artists.

He comes across as a complete diva with a chip on his shoulder regarding his background and spending much of his life figuring out his sexuality and finding a life partner (spoiler, he does eventually!). Was hoping for more detail on his work on Ratt's Detonator especially.

There's no doubting his prevenance and achievements, but the arrogance was seeping from the pages - but maybe that's how you have to be to survive and adapt in that industry. Interesting character for sure.

Enjoyable read though, but not for the reasons I was hoping for.

Also checked out Hair Metal Journey. I was a bit "meh" about it - it wasn't very well written, but it held my attention to the end.

My two favourite "metal" books are Bobby Rock's and Bobby Blotzer's - Paul Stanley's was a page turner too.
