i have to say the face is a little similar to Vinnie. Rik says he copied his look, made a wig the same as his hair and stole his song. They knew each other back then and used to hang out.

Rik was made with wasp as well as he was the original bass player but blackie refuses to acknowledge it even with photos. Rik says what he feels for sure.

Just to add that what Rick said. Yer, I bet no one in L.A had heard of Johnny Thunders or the New York Dolls either. (Only the band that inspired KISS)

The only one to pull off the Johnny Thunders look convincingly (right down to death ) was Derik Frigo from Enuff Z'Nuff.

That's wild Dannii, When I was posting the Punky pictures, I almost included Johnny Thunders as part of my post but felt his darker image didn't reflect the glamorous look of Vinnie and Punky.... :D

I definitely have a magazine where Vinnie discusses the band's "look" and he claims they were doing the glam thing WAY before anyone else...it's just that they didn't break with their record deal until AFTER glam was popular so it made them LOOK like they were jumping on the bandwagon.

That was exhausting even to just type...

Re: rik fox claims vv look

Brought up the subject of Rik Fox with a friend, who would live between Sydney & L.A. during the whole Glam Sunset Strip era, This guys about 5 years older an me. Anyway, without me saying anything (besides the name Rik Fox) he does the gesture of playing Air Bass & says to me, 'Do you mean the Guy that was in Steeler'. I said 'yer that guy'. Before I can start telling him about how Rik thinks VV stole his Hair-do, my friend interjects with something I had read in an interview may years ago, with Ron Keel. (could have sworn, it was in a fullinbloommusic.com interview with Ron Keel. Had a look, but couldn't find it. Maybe Ron had a change of mind & got 'what I'm about to say' pulled from the publication)
So my friends says to me, 'you realize, that Rik never played on the Steeler album. What Ron & Yngwie, would do is go back to the studio at night & record Rik's parts.'
I bring this up to make a couple of points. People in glass houses shouldn't be throwing rocks & two, to show how rumors start.
The facts are, I don't know if Rik did or didn't play on the Steeler Album (but I do know what I read & it was back up by someone who lived in that scene during those days). Still that does prove anything. The thing about VV ripping Rik's hair style up is ridiculous. If that's how the world worked, I should be a multi billionaire. Why :?: , cause my real last name is PARIS (no, it not some wannabe try hard thing, it really is PARIS) In theory I should get a royalty every time that PARIS occurs on a bottle of perfume, a piece of clothing, a watch...you name it, I should get some ca$hola. But I don't.   Life goes on. :D :D :D

To say Rik Fox invented that style of dressing is ludicrous. It slowly evolved over time and was developed during that time by many different people until it finally reached it's climax and went away. Just like any trend in fashion...or music...

First I believe Rik Fox. I listened to the Sin demo that Dana Strum engineered called "On The Run" VV heard the song , liked it and stole the main riff for "Let Freedom Rock" Later on VV copied Rik Fox's image.

Rexx you got it. He stole the song and so why is it so hard to think he copied the image, The hair was the same style and within degrees of hair metal hairstyles they were closer than other styles and looks.

what is so confusing is why did vv who can write so well rip off the Sin Demo? Was Dana really pushing him? Unless he has terrible time constraints and couldn't come up with new music why would he rip it off? Also their are question marks on a few other songs as well as the opening of Ashes to Ashes which I feel should have been credited to the original artist as much as VV got credit for that I love it loud drum sample in that dance tune recently.

Yeah I heard about that intro to "Ashes to Ashes" was the vocals of a bands song Dana was producing, they reversed their tape to have the backwards "Oh the Zero men"

I dunno, ruthlessness comes to mind, a lack of scruples..
