Exciter/ Vinnie solo -Essen 1983

Post by poserboy71 »

Lick It Up Tour- Essen ,Germany @ Grugahalle November 1983

Never saw this before.I actually dig the interplay between Vinnie and Paul at the end of Vinnie's solo spot. I wonder if it was planned or if this is one of the reasons for the rumored fights between him and Paul.

I seem to recall Paul cutting Vinnie's spotlight solo short a few times. Anyone else recall this ???

That was great Rickster, but the song is Gimme More, not Exciter, which had me excited!!

On the Animalize home video Paul plays with Bruce's wang bar, it seems he likes that sort of thing. :)

it surprises me that tune made it to the set list. I would have like 'a million to one' other that one. I suppose they wanted a more 'metal' show.

Gimme More replaced I Want You with Paul's warbling call and response bit. That's my take on it anyway.

I loved Vinnie's solo on this clip, he was amazing... He needs to be on stage again - not negotiable, that's where he belongs! All that talent and he's walking around his house strumming an acoustic guitar for kix?!

I can bet that Vinnie's favourite parts of the show were the Creatures/LIU songs and his solo. He was in his element.

It is a tremendous waste, his talents. Who knows if he's even strumming an acoustic around the house?

Vinnie's wife Diana said that he was playing acoustic around the house... It was on one of the namm posts back in January... One of the Vvff members posted an interview with Diana on our forum...I can't remember who it was though :?

Oh yeah, I remember that now. I hope it's at least true.

He should be shredding the electric, but an all acoustic album from Vinnie would be great too.

That certainly was a great clip!
I thought the Paul aprt was a good way to wrap it up........but it you were having a tiff between gigs, even if part of the show, it certainly would be crossing the personal safety circle and i could imagine some shoulder snatches...ala 'fuck of Paul' (all speculation of course, i have no idea)

   Correct. I must have been looking at that song title (Exciter) while writing the post .

My focus of the post was the Vinnie solo because I never saw it so I skipped over the actual song to listen and watch the solo spot.

could never understand why they would neglect such a potential hit like a million to one... never released as a single OR played live?! stupidity. at least paul started playing it on his solo tours...

Not to derail the thread all that much but... am I the only one who just CAN'T picture Peter Criss playing that song live?
