I agree about Racer X in every aspect except the album's production. THAT's where it loses out and the VVI album hits it home.

One whole day of voting later, the album is back the top.

Now if you excuse me, time to get drunk.

Yes VVI 1986 is awesome, but now in retrospect, the force drum machine type drumming sucks. The songs could have been even better if Vinnie didn't force Bobby to play like a machine. I hasn't got the cool groove of ASG. And also I'm a big fan of the complicated layered guitars in ASG. Sounds a lot smoother & at the same time heavy, without sounding forced to be heavy. Like heavy as in groove wise. Albums like Billy Idol's Whiplash Smile & Ratt's Dancing undercover, were already doing these smooth guitar layer (what VVI eventually end up doing in ASG), in 86. In ASG VV took the art of layers those guitars parts to a new level. You can really notice it in the ASG Unmixed version.

I never understood the "drum machine" style either! Some syncopated bass drum fills here and there could have been worked in with the guitar licks and it would have been way cool!

Not that he didn't though! It's just sometimes the ole 1 & 3 gets a bit monotonous!!

I love bobby but the drum sound was the weekest part of both vvi records in my opinion. Not sure why. Either the drums he used, the mics, the mix , the engineer. If they had the Eric carr kiss sound on that record it would have burned down my parents house in the 80s. I love bobby just not on vvi , nelson or hardline.

I voted about 500 times last night for vv and he was number one by 3% and then I wake up and he is back in second. I heard they delete all votes that from the same ip more than once so I hope I have not wasted my time. Stryper won 84 album but then they deleted the return votes and they dopped from 43% to a lot less.

Some of the earlier polls have not been closed . Looks like frank zappa wins by a long way from stryper in the old votes. It's just a case of what forums take this up. What's worrying is I bet this poll is up for many weeks.

Maybe vv will see that with all of us voting so much for him that we are far more loyal fans than he gives us credit. Dokken, Vai and even kiss don't have fans that will vote hundreds of times. He doesnt know what he had. He just thinks he's a victim. What victim has fans like us.

He spy(der)ing on us all the time. Probably has a huge ego thinking to himself, 'Look at those losers, I treat them like shit & they still support me'. He laughing in our faces & we are so honorable that we turn the other cheek & still support him. Ultimately the joke is on him. Vinnies all dressed up & no where to go ho! ho!

I voted... but only once, not to be a buzz kill but if you vote each 200 times its just 8 guys voting 200 times its not a real representation of how many people like the album , sorry I worked for a statistical research company I get weird about that stuff...Please by all means rock on, it was a great album.

Normally I would agree with you, but the Ramones contingent started the battle. The way I see it, if the "rules of voting" don't apply then I look at as which group of fans is the most passionate about hoisting up their favorite album!
And there was no way in hell I was going to let a handful of Ramones fans show up the VVFF Army!!
And there is no way in hell that ANY Ramones album is a better guitar album than VVI!!

I just checked (& voted a few hundred times) and we are ahead by almost 10%!

GREAT WORK VVFF!

It's been "scientifically" done already although strangely, Vinnie didn't get a mention????

Speed means nothing anyway. Speed is great used well but is ultimately boring. It in the silences that you hear the genius.
That sade 80s vv could have blitzed those guys in my opinion. no idea about present vv. I think he's on the computer too much to keep up his talent. Moderating that forum is the death of his new music. If he just quit the computer for 6 months he may actually put something out.

I'm just a drummer, but I love-love-loved metal back in the day (all music really, but especially metal) while there were a LOT of shredders and fast players, there didn't seem to be anyone that sounded remotely like Vinnie. I think he was a truly unique player and then when you'd add in the melodic stuff he would compose and play...jeez. It's a shame he didn't ascend to get the recognition like Vai, Malmsteen, etc.

I am some sort of drummer too. I agree no one sounded like him. For some reason vv didn't get taken as seriously . Maybe because he was so different. Shame. The biggest waste of talent I can think of off hand.

It's more of a shame his career has led him to fighting and threatening most of his fans rather than working on music. Over and over again he over values himself which results in him making no money and not getting anywhere .

It cost him a gig in KISS, it cost him his solo band, it cost him his record deal, it cost him his song-writing gig with KISS...he "over-valued" himself out of everything!!

The Ramones are really picking up momentum now... 48.72% vs. 36.01% (VVI)

Vinnie-maybe if you treated us with an ounce of respect & slightly appreciated us we would get your album over the line ... To be honest I stopped voting for you...found myself asking why I was voting for a guy that just don't care...?? Can you dig it??

Ramones will end up with 60% of the vote which is unfair compared to true guitar albums like VVI & 5150 but this is a popularity contest & Vinnie just won't win it...
