Wow, what an exciting few days... not posted in years but still read now and then, now if Vinnie coming back doesn’t make me post I don’t know what will! Been following the news here and watching all the videos! Never thought this would happen. Love the performance video with Robert, although Vin’s struggled a bit with the vocals in parts I could still listen to it all day.

Let’s hope some bigger shows will follow one day.

My friend Tom just scored me VV's signature on the trem plate in my oil based pink marker. He got Rob's signature in my oil-based silver marker on the pot cavity plate yesterday. He sent me the photos and they look awesome. It took 20 years but finally everyone from the Invasion will be represented. I'll post pics when I get them back on~

Shoulders are obscured. He’s been pretty vocal about Diane trying to kill him. Go back to Sweden 1996. It’s a vest.

Thought this snippet from Sunday's Q&A was interesting.

Vinnie talks pretty frankly about Mark Slaughter and how he came to be in the band. Describes him as "no talent individual". The inference here I assume is that Vinnie had no choice but to work with him on the instruction of the Record Company?

I'm not gonna give a full rundown because we can all watch the videos of everything at this point. A couple things I will add though; when I met Robert I said "did you talk with Vinnie about getting back together? I've heard Bobby Rock say he would love to do it, you would probably have to find a different bass player though" and Robert cut in with "...we would need a BETTER bass player".

Everything was running behind BUT it actually was good because it took 2 hours just to get in so I didn't miss anything . I got in line a little before 11am when it opened and I didn't get in till 1pm! They only had one person handing out passes for all those people. The lines for photos and autographs were really disorganized too, no one knew where to stand or where to go, it was a bit of a clusterfuck. The time block thing for the autographs didn't really work out. The good thing was I never waited more than like 45 minutes for the photo or autograph.

The only kinda weirdness was Vinnie had armed security everywhere. During the photos and autigraphs there was an armed guard standing right next to him and during the Q&A there was a guard on both sides of the stage and even some in the audience. I heard from someone working there that Vinnie was afraid someone was gonna try to kill him.

Overall the expo was amazing. Thanks to Derek for booking Robert Fleischman. I could see him at his table crying during Vinnie's speech when he was talking about meeting Robert the first time. None of us had any idea that Vinnie was gonna play music, and we especially didn't think we'd see a VVI reunion! It was everything you could possibly want if you're a VV fan

I wish him all the best and that he will pulling out some new music.
This convention changed everything for me. So sad that I can't go at this place to see him personally !
But when I see the interviews and listen between the lines he has my respect totally !

I audited lots of labels recently including stuff from 80s and even chrysalis as I was passed on publishing for lots of stuff. I didn't use a lawyer and got the money. I think vv should try again as he can get his money from vvi albums. Also they should pass him the gold records as well. I have lots of recent experience on auditing. Including in the states and with same label as vv. I think he could try again but to be honest dealing with music indusrty equals depression and I think maybe somethings are best forgotten about and making new stuff maybe better. i don't know but i can see why you would get depressed from music industry. Lots of people think thats part of why Hendrix died. Great music is made out of love and then the insustry shits all over that love.

Wow, I'm struggling to process how emotionally satisfying this weekend was. Every bit of heart, faith and belief I've had in Vinnie over the years was validated.
I would've been satisfied just knowing he is well and happy, but to meet him, shake his hand, and exchange a few words still blows my fucking mind.

Him surprising everyone by actually playing a bit, revealing the truth on certain incidents, seeing him get emotional a couple times...
All overwhelming but in the best way.
Actually got teary eyed in my hotel room right before I checked out.
I still can't believe I was able to experience all that.

"Dear Mr. Fleischman,many, many thanks for accepting me here.I always loved your voice and phrasing.Seeing you playng with Vinnie was very moving.I couldn't make it to the expo because of personal issues,so i couldn't see you in person nor could i see Vinnie..Sorry to talk about that here, but seeing Vinnie alive and well and happy was beyond moving.I was so afraid that he was in deep turmoil and lost his passion for music.Sounds silly since i don't know him, but that's the way i felt,and from what i've seen i think you understand what i'm tryng to say.
I also think that his comeback-after all he went through- was very inspirational in ways that maybe are too hard to describe with words.Shame i couldn't say that to him in person , and shame i couldn't be there to shake your hand and say how much i love your voice and your songs.As always, i will keep on promoting your music-and your art.

Since i didn't want to bother him much more, i didn't mention that i'm in one of the darkest momentss of my life.....my father just passed away after a long suffering, a person i loved dearly even if he made me wrong so many times, took shots at me,and i have no work..and i have to deal with all beaurocracy related to my father's passing..........so i couldn't go to the expo.......yet, thanks to many friends i have, i'm going on forward.............but Vinnie's comeback and his speach helped me very, very much, and motivated me quite a lot.It also brought me joy.I can also add tha t maybe, the silver lining on the dark clouds of his past could be that his comeback,his openess,-and especially what he said- could help many people to realize tha t life's journey may have many dark roads and bumps, but you can still go on to follow your dreams........shame i don't have the chance to say directly to him how much it meant for me to see him smile again........and play with such joy.

ha! You might be right.

Anyone have any observations on the guitar playing we saw in the vids? Obviously playing an acoustic, we were never going to see a perfect performance of the solo from Boyz Are Gonna Rock or anything. But I dunno - I'm no guitarist - his fingering looked a bit "vague" to me? I didn't get a sense that I was watching a guitar maestro who'd been playing his heart out daily for the last 20 years...

(Not putting the negatives out there, just curious what any guitarists here thought).

What has happened here is you are seeing a guitar genius reworking a song and he makes it look easy.

When you watch a top player, you wonder, gee, I should be able to play that, but when you sit down with the music, it's just as hard as before!

In all fairness, my only negative from the weekend is the words about Mark Slaughter.

They were not needed and go against the grain of Vinnie's comeback.

And to say that Mark has no talent is very wrong, wrong, wrong. He sang his ass off on that album and suited the songs to a T, we all know that.

Sure, have misgivings about the album and how it came to be, but to dismiss Mark's contribution is such a way? Not cool.

What we needed was acknowledgement of Mark's amazing voice along with the full story on why the second album came to be the way it was.

For sure there is the fuck up that lost him Robert, necessitating the need to find someone else, ie, Mark. That would have started the process to produce ASG and then Slaughter after the break up of the band.

Apologies if he did tell us all this.

It would be good to hear all about the years 1988 to 1996. A lot of time with not much, but at least something, done. Then he met Diane.....

Again, agreed. There was no reason to paint M.S. in a bad light. It served as a disservice. I enjoyed all of Mark's contributions to ASG. It would have elevated his appearance that much more if he would have spoken about ASG, including Dana in a positive, more educational light. I'm sure he could have pulled at least ONE story from the past regarding that time period that fans would have enjoyed. Just sayin~

This is the first time in 30 years where Vinnie spoke of this stuff. Please cut him some slack and allow him to let 30 years of bottled-up hurt come out. He was extremely brave and I will forever cherish the sharing of his truth .
We all know that forgiveness feels better for all parties.
Who would've imagined Vinnie hugging The Poserboy a few times as well as checking up on me throughout that incredible weekend ?
Some people need to be forgiven and allowed to breath your air.
Others should be forgiven then accidentally dropped off a cliff.
Have faith that Vinnie will make things right with the people who deserve it.
He felt comfortable enough to tell us his truth.
I will respect a punch that was held for 30 years and can reach a couple of deserving chins over a "Burning Bridge(s)".

Now that he's done airing his somewhat "dirty" laundry (and other " kumbaya" moments)

he can move forward and have purpose again, in the spotlight, in a positive way (if that's what he truly wants)!

BTW...No one asked him if he's been approached by labels to release his catalog (I might have missed it - but I don't think so). It would be a shame if all of his works he spoke of (KISS tunes, etc., including Guitarmageddon/Guitars From Hell) ended up unreleased in any format to the paying consumer.
