Got a new VVV build starting in the shop now. My customer has asked me to build another Gold Leaf version.
Will reveal the requester later. Below are the rough parts that i'll be transforming into another Gold Leaf beauty,
build #2. Unfortunately # one is in the hands (maybe) of Mr. Vincent. Below is a shot of the parts that will soon
become a beautiful instrument. . . .

this will be awesome to see come to life. I'm certainly looking forward to more build shots. I definitely don't mean to detract from this thread, but Tom check your PM's (here and facebook) sometime. I messaged you a while back. I'm interested in one!

Hi Vince,
Sorry if I missed your PM's. I always look at the top of the page when I open up the forum to check for PM's
but I don't recall missing any lately. I'll be more diligent in the future. I don't check out Facebook very often though.
Will be more often now.

Little by little I'm in the process of shaving the edge chamfers onto all of the wing parts and shaving the little blend areas
where the wings meet the neck. I've also got the gold pearl blanks for cutting the "V" Inlays which is always a somewhat tedious
process. That stuff is pretty hard and a bit brittle. It also wears out my fine toothed razor saws and they aren't something that's
at all easy to resharpen, so I just end up buying more.

By the way Genebaby, is there a drool section on the forum for the Money shots?
I don't want my posts to get all goopy!

Brother Tom,
I have dropped so many loads looking at your work that my peenie only dry heaves now. Cleanup is inconsequential at this moot point.
Smooches,

Sounds exciting! Especially adding of the gold leafs. Hope you can give some insight how these are applied to the guitar. Good luck, can't wait to see the next update and or photo's!

Sounds like fun to do some video, "BUT" I don't have a video camera or a mobile phone.
Maybe it's time for WalMart. I'll check them out when I get a chance. I also have an account with Office Depot too.
It would also be neat to have the ability to describe what I'm doing while I'm doing it.
I will be checking into this so check back soon.

Can not believe I missed all this. Damn no idea AZG were back. How amazing. How lucky for us Tom is making guitars.
I remember the old board searching and searching for who made Vinnie's 90s guitar before we even knew it was a Pear.
Tom is the best

Caught me working today . . . . been adding the binding to the ebony fret board. Not really visible on the photo in the pamphlet, but I used
some Ivoroid neck Binding on the original Goldy to blend in with the gold Leaf as it gives the guitar a real nice Vintage look. The gold Mother of
Pearl inlays also work very nicely too with the Vintage theme. The other 3 guitars have all white binding which works well with their color schemes.
And by the way I have the neck and all of the body fins roughed out now. The fins, upper set and lower set, will be glued together soon and then will be glued to the neck -- before which -- I'll be shaping the neck first before that operation. Also will need to slap the neck on the mill to route the
Truss Rod channel before I start shaping. I have all of the gold hardware in the shop too so another next step will be to route some cavities in the body and drill some holes through the front for the pots.

As for doublev2. Congrats on making it back to the forum. We've missed your input for quite a while.

Tom. Do you know anything about African blackwood? It seems to be more high end than ebony. I would love Tom to make me something but no money at moment.

For D.
For any and all types of wood, colors, grains, sizes, etc. www.bellforestproducts.com has pretty much any wood in the world.
It's a real nice browse too.
I got some real nice Birds Eye recently for a fretboard that I've been working on (Seemingly forever but it's coming along).
Thanks for a lot of patience on this one . . . . .

Inlays, routing, wing on headstock ...?

Yes, what you said PB 71. Once I get it glue'd together and before I get the fret board glue'd down etc. I will be routing the bridge & pickup
cavities first and the electronics cavity too. And yes, there will be a mini fin on the headstock. I also still have more of the metallic
gold paint to use as the coloration in the cavities and it blends well with the gold leaf. This is just the same as Gold Leaf #1. For more
authenticity I will also be installing an SH-12 Screamin' Demon pickup just like the original. Oh yes, and of course, all of the hardware
is bright gold plate. So, stay tuned for another exciting episode. Oh yes, and as usual, more photos to come.

Hi DV2,
These VV copies also do come with a G and G case custom made to fit the guitars. And there are many
colors to choose from inside and out. And, shipping is amazingly reasonable to Europe etc. You can also
specify what pickup you'd like to have as well. Just trying here to give you an idea of what you get
for the money. I haven't done this before either but I might be able to set you up with time payments.
It's been working well too, to use PayPal for payments.
I don't know your situation so I'm just throwing out some possibilities for you to consider if it's worth
your while. My email is tom@arizonaguitars.com

Getting back in the groove here, finally, and here's an update on the Arjen Gold Leaf guitar:
Image
On this one I've contacted DePaul Supply and sent them an actual full sized drawing of the Gold Pearl Inlays.
They are going to cut them out for me on this one which will save me some time here while I work on the
main body/neck of the guitar. I've also got the gold leaf and all of the hardware just waiting to be installed
once the leaf is on and the clear coats are applied and polished.

I should be receiving my order from DePaul Supply here soon and I'll be letting you all know
regarding the quality etc. Can't tell you how many V V inlays "I've destroyed". Especially the
real skinny ones at the 12th to 24th frets. I've actually resorted to doin some glue'n on some
of them.

Tom,
Time-lapse video progress on a gold leaf would be insane and could be used in commercials to hype your builds. Just a thought.

Also, the broken inlay problem... could they be made thicker ,maybe even as thick as the fingerboard and slotted in ?
