Hi Dino, Using Alder instead of Soft Maple may have been fine but I did like the way the Maple behaved while cutting those chamfers. I guess that's why Jackson used it to begin with. It most likely lent a bit brighter tone to the guitar as well. The alder would have cut down the highs a little. I tend to like the alder too as it's a bit easier to sand and contour. So that's coming from a desire to make it easier to work with. I guess that's my 2 cents for the day.
