PINK WIZ INVASION...

Post by PinkWiz »

https://soundcloud.com/#xerockx

My band, Xerockx... my twin brother and I recorded these demos a couple years ago... just us two doing all vocals, guitars, bass, keys, drum programming, song writing, etc... kind of an electro, metal, industrial, punk thingy...

this link dosent work for me but I found you by name. Your music could be use in a action movie or sometinh like that. It remainds me themes from Matrix

Hey thanx man, cool comparison! We used to be known as The Geminus Sect and the only thing our music has been used in was back in 2000 when MTV used snippets of our songs in the Makin' The Video episodes (paid nothing, but it was cool to hear our music on national tv.)

Yes Trent was a huge influence... along with stuff like Skinny Puppy, Ministry, KMFDM, Killing Joke, etc.

i'm hearing frontline assembly too.

this is awesome stuff. 1031 is right that it would be a big hit in clubs.

it's got an overall edge, and excellent percussion underneath 'organic' sounding guitars and bass. do you use reaper or ableton live or somesuch host? do you have hardware or software synths?

this would definitely have a lot of people out on the dance floor at a club.

so far, i've only made it through to 'safe mode'. really liking the vocal phrasing, lyrics, and harmonies on this one.

I used to have a GR20 synth module to use with the 707's but sold it a couple years ago like a dipshit.

Wow, thanx guys! Took me awhile to embrace doing mostly covers... but as always, money talks. Now I fully enjoy doing them... and it keeps me out of a shit paying mill job... and throw in the odd original tune just to get a reaction.

My wife honest to goodness made me and my bro pink and green tutus (Richie Stotts style) to wear onstage... still haven't had the balls to wear 'em since we stopped drinking heavily before we play... :)

Yes, he was kinda creepy at first... then intriguing! I remember the first time I saw a Dee Snider live shot in Circus or Hit Parader circa'83... disgusted at first... then I wanted to BE him... :)

Good musical brains on these handsome twins!!! Not my cup of tea but I can appreciate it!

Hey Blitz, thanx for the kind words! Yes, FA was an influence. We use hardware synths mostly... a MicroKorg, a Yamaha RM1X, Korg Electribe for drums... all thru an Mbox and ProTools. Not that we're against soft synths or anything... just kinda happened that way. I'm glad you dig the sounds... feedback always helps with getting reinspired!

i could see it now... you guys dropping 'clone of a clone' on the sort of audience shown in the video...

seriously, if you can play covers for a living, more power to you. that's what classical musicians do after all!

of these 5, 'here today, drone tomorrow' is probably the most accessible to an audience who would mostly be into '80s covers. cool interlude.

Haha, yeah the family crowd at the baseball game may not appreciate it too much! ;) But I've always loved the idea of two extremes together so I think it'd be a blast droppin' one of the heavier originals in! Here Today/Drone Tomorrow is actually the newest tune on that list... all are over 5 years old. My brother and I have been outta recording mode ever since we both got laid off our jobs 4 years ago (from two separate places the same week!) so forming Xerockx and doing covers kinda came outta desperation. We've been at it ever since... but now we're getting that itch to start doing originals again.
