the shop.

Postby TJMonster » Fri Oct 07, 2011 7:34 am

This is currently all the guitars that are being worked on in the shop that Im pretty much done shaping and awaiting routing. Im routing 1 out every tuesday through friday. Rick, yours is already routed out minus the control cavity. Once routing is done, I can start spraying.
Wolf, sorry I haven't gotten down to the post office yet. First thing in the morning. Working 2 jobs has me pulling my hair out lol. But, Im confident that the shop will start to take over as my main source of income and I can start dropping hours at the carpet cleaning.
Anyways, heres the beef.

struggling. my uncle decided he needed to put both his tractors in the shop. So I have to take both tractors out, set up the shop, then work on whatever, then clean it up, put my tools back in the back corner and move his tractors back in..... Im looking at a new space complete with a spray booth. 2 weeks till I can move it. ill have the vs ready to paint by then.

The less money is a very important factor. haha. I really think that the VVV would look so cool as a bass. I need a new bass because there are issues with the neck on my current one.

mine sounded bright but warm. maybe like maple. Phil Elliot used lacewood too. Some say its more for decoration than sound. well the jackson winger was the best playing and sounding bass i heard, but i never tried the other jackson basses.

i never liked those spector basses. the necks were like trunks and i didnt like the sound but many loved them. the ns6 guitar was however brilliant.

I love a warm tone to a bass guitar. Really rich sound. I might have to check more information out about this lacewood because I am always excited to try different features to my instruments. :) Thank you for telling me about this Dino!

Right now my bass has maple. Maple isn't my favorite on guitars, but on the bass its not too bad. :)

maple is great all round but not as warm as mahogany and for sure not walnut. Walnut's problem is its a little heavy. I would take it on a bass or guitar these days.

That is very right. I would like to try a mahogany neck on a bass sometime. I think I would really like that tone.

yes. i have a walnut body with mahogany neck. thats killer. i think mahogany is not as strong as maple so the neck can have more issues but its minor. I think you also have to get the best mahogany (Swietenia) usually from Honduras as some of the mahogany they bring out of china and other countries is real poor.

Good point! And thank you for the tip. I have had neck trouble with basses and I have to say, its not fun at all. Having a better quality wood would probably make all the difference. And the climate here is so changeable that its hard to maintain a routine. For my guitars and bass I have to adjust my care of them according to the seasons, which is a real drag at times.

i offer my services and testimony ..... tjs work is great i own a chris bickley - double v built by tj monster, ( only called chris bickley because its mine ) i love my guitar its plays great sounds great , what else can i say its a great axe .. best part bout it .it turns heads... and its effortless i did mine also in pink and silver and it couldnt have been more gorgeous the neck is fast and what agreta neck should be on that type of guitar inlays are beautiful. and it balance is perfect i love mine so much im having him build me another. ...

tj and i also created a guitar together its a tele hybrid .. we cal it my signature model but really thats just cause i helped create it and would rather let others decide if they want certain options rather than pinn them down on " my model " i dont always like playing otehr guy sgnature models so i think its rte not every one would want my name plasterd all over there guitar .. in any case i have the prototype of that axe and its also great . i have ordered another one of those as well ..

long story short out of every one i think i will be the one who owns the most monster guitars here very soon i mite be the one who has more than one .. i can say friendship aside tj does make a great guitar and the best part is not only he cares but hes a player and knows what great guitars should play like and thats like mega important. bro if your gonna pull the trigger then tj will hook you up. no problem .. plus hes a real you can talk to him he gets it genuine honest guy.. ok enough ranting

good luck on the bass man itll be great!

My son (age7) is taking guitar lessons and getting better. How crazy would it be to make a half-size double-V?
