Under rated albums.

Post by shramiac »

For me, the most criminally under rated album is arguably the best “Dokken” album recorded. (I do love Back for the Attack though)

Don Dokken’s 1990 Up from the Ashes.

Billy White and John Norum! The best tag team this side of Peter North and Tom Byron! Accept’s Peter Baltes on bass and a post King Diamond Mikkey Dee on drums.

Enjoy the pre grunge wonderfullness!

Promises made, crying in vain, all empty. Never accepting the blame and not letting go of the shame. A river of tears, as months turn to years, all wasted. On someone not willing to change. Now only a shadow remains! :(

Sounds like a nice tune, and some tasty solo work there. Strange seeing John Norum in the band.

Oh, wouldn't it be nice if it was 1990 again?....

Oh yer, one of my favorite albums and band line up.
More chops than a farmers market.
- & When I say this, I say with love to George Lynch. Personally I believe Dokken was more Don Dokken than George Lynch.
George is an insanely great guitarist, but Don is the song writing talent.
I got Jesus in my fax machine. I saw Ho Chi Minh down @ Burger King. I dated Vinnie Vincent as a Drag Queen. I still don't understand a f**kin' thing.
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass and I'm all out of bubble gum.

I really haven't given the time to hear other Dokken stuff other than Back for the Attack.
I love a few on that album but skip a lot.

Always up for a good recommendation so this will be next on the list.
Cheers :P

Yeah, I like Hot In The Shade, it's ok.

I was excited when it came out and was very intrigued that Vini Poncia was back, I couldn't really believe it, he was the got that made them poppy, which they loved at the time.

It was a good sign of the change that got KISS celebrating their history. The return of I Was Made For Loving You to the live show the year before was the start of it I think. Then the HITS tour had plenty of classic KISS songs, it was great.

Now we also know KISS basically turned their demos into the album as money was tight, so the sound is a bit raw as it was not originally going to be released like that. At the time they told us it was on purpose, ha ha.

At least they were trying and the tour with Leon the Sphinx was fantastic.

I love the style of composition adopted in it, it is so different from the original kiss, but at the same time so original because it is the kiss, somewere between heaven and hell, cadillac dreams, if hell or high water were in it, for me it would be the best album of kiss in the 80s.

I recently discovered the phenomena band, and man, they should have had more visibility, a pity Ray Gillen died so young and before doing his first show with phenomena

Fifth Angel's albums for me. Probably released a bit too late, but solid listens.

They're back now minus the original vocalist (Ted Pilot)
