Man, that is gold. He's over there right now.

The pic in Manchester with only two people and someone filming is classic.

Thinking more about this, I gotta wonder what his motivation is. Sure, he got himself a tour booked on false pretences, but because his popularity is fake then he'll get shows like that Manchester one, with literally two punters. Why travel to the other side of the world to play to practically nobody, and of course get the scam exposed in the process.

Why?
A different angle to get noticed.
The guy has some talent.
Now that this exposure has some legs, people might listen. I won't , but some folks might.

I think it's a daringly awesome different way to attempt a career advancement.
Just consider the money spent on travel as the money that would've been used on promotion that most likely would be ignored without such an angle.
More people are talking about this because of the outrageousness of it.

The guy didn't want to be exposed, he closed his facebook accounts and removed several videos :(

Then his stupidity transcends logic.
He could've played that angle and it could've started something for himself.

His stupidity does transcend logic. Before the internet he may have gotten through the whole tour and home without anyone putting two and two together and he would have achieved nothing more than having played to cool, but empty venues, having wasted the time of the rest of his band, the opening acts and the venues themselves who did get paid, but were also expecting more punters to attend and buy drinks etc.

Now, it's going viral, and as has been suggested, it would be good he kept on going, if he could with just a bass player, as he might get more people coming for a look out of curiosity. Instead, it fell apart half way through and he's back pedalling and closing everything down.

I don't think his music is very memorable, but yes, he can sing and play. If I was him I'd join a band that can do the writing and go with that, but if you read all the stuff he "wrote" about himself it's clear his ego needs him to be a solo start, taking all the credit for being amazing, so he chose this path.

What he does next remains to be seen, but I can't fathom how he thought this was going to go down any other way.

Quite an amazing story.

This is one of those times where his ego was bigger than their budget or intelligence. Had he aimed for a "viral" angle, sure, it would've made sense (as Gene once said, "there's no bad publicity, there's only NO publicity."). But now that we know that wasn't the angle, all I can ask is "why, tho'?"

He could still spin it though.

He's already spun his web of lies into a tangled mess.

The deceptions aside, his very obvious narcissism is a very negative factor in this.

It would be cool for someone to interview him to get his story though.

Very interesting. I can imagine being those guys, caught up in this web. And they were very poorly paid, so I guess looking at it as an almost paid holiday and some good experience was the best outcome, until the wheels all fell off.
