Skid Row

Post by birnie »

I love em! (loved em)

Saw em touring on the 1st self titled album at the Sydney Horden Pavillion,
They had already done melbourne and wrote Get The Fuck out while there and performed it 1st at Syd.
Sooo good.

Sebastian is such an awesome performer/singer.

Don't like their new singer though.
A seb try hard.
Their latest album RPM, was so so but you could imagine the exact same songs sung by Seb and it would have been awesome!

Sebastian's Angel Down album is a rip snorta!
Get back and release another one, chop chop!

They were great. I only saw them oncein 93 when they opened for GnR and they were the better live band, that's for user.

Sebastian was a legend performer.

He bloody had to cancel his Canberra show last year on his tour due to flooding in the venue. Someone set off the sprinklers damn it, I was devastated, couldn't believe it had happened.

Slave to the Grind is an album that every metal fan should own! Beautiful production and awesome songs! Only Get the F*ck Out is kinda lame 20 years later! No need to whimper, no need to shout, this parties over, so Get the F*ck Out! Dunno if all our US buddies got to hear that one? It wasn't banned on the Aussie release! But I guess there's youtube and such to hear it these days!

I agree about G.T.F.O.- a pure novelty track that was put on the album to add levity . The track "Beggar's Day" that didn't appear on some of the releases , should have been on all copies of S.T.T.G.
THINK: Porter Wagoner

My old drummer had Begger's Day (I think it was the Quicksand Jesus B-side) and I listened to it a few times and it really stuck with the whole "vibe" of the album and yes, it should have been on all the releases! I didn't like SR at first because I didn't like 18 and Life when I saw it on MTV! Thought Bas looked too girly and his mouth wobbled too much when doing his vibrato lip-syncing! Never thought much till I saw Slave to the Grind on MTV.....woah! Me likey! So I got the S to the G, then the 1st album, then the long play videos, then the EP, then grunge hit!!!! Next album I wasn't a big fan of, I recall it was a bit punky for me. Rachel is a big Ramones fan and it played out a bit too much on the 3rd album (I admit I haven't heard it for at least 10 years though, so I could be wrong).....then they broke up! For a while! Actually their long play videos were pretty enjoyable to watch!

I know GTFO is novelty fun......but i had a 'mate' at the time who was SO clingy that it just made me think of him all the time.....and the lines :
"You're standing too close, what the fucks with you?
You aint my old lady and you aint a tattoo"

I think they're an absolute crack up!

I tell you what, Seb needs a Dino type person to do his web site fir free,
What a mish mash!
I huge long single page instead of menus......and always takes me a minute or 2 to find the stupid auto player that kicks off.....grrr
(runs and checks the tour dates....well clicks and checks)

I have not even heard any Skid Row since Seb was gone. I'm not interested in them without him.

A mate gave me a copy of the album they did without him. They got a guy that sounded pretty similar to Bas, it was ok but no Slave to the Grind! The rockier version of I Remember You sucked though!!!

Yeah...sure he's not getting MTV play or radio support, but he's still making music, selling music and touring. I believe he did it all while occasionally suing SKID ROW for different things, too.

So, Mr. Cusano...please take note. We all want to hear a well produced album of NEW material and have our faces melted completely the fug off!!!!

Well FUCK ME DEAD !
If there's one band i thought would never get back together again it's Skid Row !
Sooo excited right now.
Old band, new tour, new CD (looking for the lube and a tissue)

From Sebastian's facebook :
Wow, i have been waiting a long time to make this announcement. It looks like the stars have finally aligned! It is amazing to me to say that ... Yes... Talks are underway for the reunion tour of all reunion tours!! I am happy to announce I am negotiating details with my old band & we are gonna get the band back together for an epic tour of sheds, arenas, casinos & marinas that will span the globe! We are going to start immediately on our new CD "Rock Sucker" that is guaranteed to be Eddie Trunks wet dream come true & we are all getting along famously! Or infamously, as the (hard) case may be! More details to come, watch this space!!

(and shit a brick...is it still April Fools over there? Only realising as i'm typing...please no !!!!)

Yeah I saw that and then thought it was a cruel, sick joke. Damn April Fools!!!!

It would be awesome but Seb has his own band going so I think he's fairly happy with his situation.

Unfortunately, sometimes there are just "magical" musical connections that happen when you combine the right people. One of those "magical" connections was Sabo and Sebastian. They are good on their own, but they are great together.

Yeah, Ye Olde Skids were freegan awesome!
They were my 1st ever concert and my gawd they set the standard high !
Even touring on a single album they were great, plus they played Cold Gin amd nearly pee'd myself.

Kicking and Screaming, was supposed to be a continuation from Slave To The Grind......from what Baz said.
No way! I don't even like it.
Angel was a much better solo album

Tony Harnell is too good for Skid Row. I believe this will be a short lived venture.
