Mark St. John: Interesting Quote About Eric Carr

Post by thattimeofyear87 »

Was looking over one of my old magazines ("KISS Guitarists") and thought this was an interesting quote from the Mark St. John interview:

What do you think of Eric Carr?
He's a tough musician. Gene ad Paul put him under a lot of pressure with these new guitarists and they kind of use him as the guinea pig to get to know them. He won't really be himself around us.

Thats really interesting.. I wonder if Eric just felt like if he made friends too fast with the new guys that Gene and Paul would get annoyed? Maybe he didnt want to have to snitch them out? Maybe its just that by the time that Mark came along, Eric didnt think he was going to be around for long so why bother? Like how people act to a new person in an office..

Eric and the other guitarists in the band were very much comrades in that they were the new guys paid to do a job in Kiss, once Ace had left.

He did seem to hang and get on well with Vinnie, who he may have initially thought would be there for a while, and he may have been wary of Bruce, after Mark's very short stint, but Bruce and he had an even better bond, the two guys who weren't Gene and Paul, who stuck it out for a long time. Happy to be in Kiss and do what was needed.
