elder "who really played" question

Post by AceAlive1 »

i know that half wit coked up asshole, bob ezrin trashed alot of ace's demos....trashed meaning he didnt use them or trashed meaning he destroyed them???

also...

who played most of the lead guitar work? i keep hearing dick wagner because well....wherever ezrin goes...wagner follows.

can anyone shed some light? no not dark light....i'll pass on that.

it just seems to be more to it than the kissfaq article on it

It sounds like Ace and Paul to me.

Ace has his standard licks while Paul always infuses a melodic element in his solos.

Eric didn't do all the drums. They brought Allan in was it? Some parts were too different for Eric, he didn't sign up for the Elder.

I thought he did some other stuff too, like Under The Rose. Eric played and he wasn't getting the feel they wanted. He kicked our asses on all the albums after that, but was doing his best to deal with the concept album. Had he been a full member like Ace then things may have been different.

As much as I like the album I can't help but wonder what would have happened if they'd stuck to their guns on the hard rock album they were starting on. Dynasty did ok, Unmasked weakened them in the US but people were still kind of interested in what they were doing, so the time was perfect to come back with a kick ass rock album.

People listened, and they didn't like what they heard!! Not at the time anyhow. Which totally killed mainstream interest i the band, who only a few years ago were No.1 in the US. Oh well.

Paul played every solo on the Elder except Dark Light, Escape From The Island and Mr. Blackwell.

Yes, Odyssey is a classic, melodic Paul solo.

if the film would have been made, kiss would be doing huge numbers from that year on with no lull.

and if all the demos got made? my god..... double album. and KISStory would be very different.

I believe this to be a total fact even though I personally can't prove this. Paul played many of the solos on Unmasked as well.

I agree with you Kev. The solos are way too melodic for Ace!

according to different sources,Allan played on I and Odissey.

About detailed "Elder" info,i suggest to chek out the Kissfaq special feature.

I was just gonna mention Unmasked... Paul plays most of those solos except where Ace and Bob played. Ace has even stated that he thinks Paul didn't convince him to stay because he wanted to do more solos.

at the time of unmasked, more or less each one of them played most of the instruments on their own songs.

Absolutely it is. However, the solo on that album that does it for me would be "Under The Rose"
