Even though I don't care for the album or tour, As far as sheer vocal range with ease, Crazy Nights is his shining moment.
That's when he was really working out. I believe that it helped him tremendously. He never hit notes like that on a tour or CD again. He pushed his voice to the limit.

The coolest PS vocal moment is "I've Had Enough(Into The Fire). I remember doing a double take and having to re-drop the needle a few times to hear this part at the 3:23 mark:

Paul has so many great highlights over 40 years and think that all the songs that everyone has mentioned here are gems but I completely agree with Rick here. There is no doubt that he expanded his vocal range performing the Phantom of the Opera stuff but as far as straight singing I agree that the vocals on Crazy Nights from a technical and range stand point are the highlight of Paul's Career.

Here are some examples:

I agree with both Poserboy and Slayer. I was listening to Crazy Nights just last night in my car and Paul's voice on this album is just sublime.

I know as of late this record has earned itself of lot of criticism, but for me, this album is a real highlight in KISS' career. As a teenager I couldn't get enough of this record and now, more than 25 years later, I still enjoy pretty much everything about it.

Great post Kev ! I agree, IMO Paul is one of the great rock singers of all time...maybe under appreciated because of how critics viewed KISS, but he has a distinct a voice as anyone in rock. A voice is a tough thing to maintain with age and even moreso when singing hard rock, metal , etc. For the most part, Paul has done a great job throughout.

For me, Creatures of the Night , Lick It Up , Animalize , and Asylum as well as Crazy Nights all featured
excellent vocal performances from Paul.. That 5 album span was one of the best spans in his career in my opinion (vocally speaking of course )

Once again, too many great performances to choose from.

In the 80's he really took it up a notch until by Crazy Nights he was off the chart!

Yes in deed!
I got Jesus in my fax machine. I saw Ho Chi Minh down @ Burger King. I dated Vinnie Vincent as a Drag Queen. I still don't understand a f**kin' thing.

I actually really like it... he never sang falsetto much.

It's odd that Paul would even admit he couldn't hit the high notes in The Oath, so that's why Ezrin suggested falsetto (and it sounded killer). The only other time I can think of Paul using falsetto is the bridge in Magic Touch.
