Kulick's songwriting in KISS

Post by Brainsaw »

Bruce really made some songwriting contributions to KISS. Where would they be without these songs. So many hit singles, concert staples etc. Oh wait.....

Asylum:
King of the Mountain
Trail By Fire

Crazy Nights:
I'll Fight Hell To Hold You
Hell Or High Water
When Your Walls Come Down

HITS
Prisoner Of Love

Revenge
Tough Love

I see. So what I hear the jagoff saying is that if HE does not enjoy a song then that song is not any good.
Makes sense.
So I will assume that you are the head of the most successful record company of all time and every artist on your roster sells multi-platinum every time? Please tell me this is so. Because with a golden ear such as yours, no other response would make any other sense to me.

What I'm saying is--that during Bruce's time in KISS...none of those songs would have been missed.

None of them were concert staples.

None of them were released as singles/music videos.

Even Eric Carr had more of an impact than Bruce and Eric wasn't a very good writer.

Whether you like them or not is irrelevant.

From what I hear...and it's admittedly second handed, unlike the very reliable and well-published sources of Captain Jagoff here...Paul and Gene graciously accepted material from all other bandmembers. So I'm sure all of Bruce's best material was always accepted and utilized in it's best format. Especially during the 80's when they all seemed to be cooperating 25%-25%-25%-25%.

You've certainly come up with a rock-solid argument here, jagoff. Bruce Kulick just can't write a song to save his life. I'll hold your degree in music theory as the ultimate judge of his talent.

And so everyone knows, jagoff started this thread because he was losing yet another debate to me in a different thread. His point being that Bruce Kulick can't write, where my point is that any creative pursuit is purely subjective. Many here could LOVE everything Bruce has written/co-written and just because jagoff says it's bad does not make it bad. Here was my post of songs I like by Bruce:

erg2 wrote:First off, jagoff, a list of "good" Bruce songs would be totally subjective to the listener. What is good to me might not be good to you. What would that prove?

I will play Carnac the Magnificent here and predict that whatever songs I list, Jaggy McJagoff will cry "those songs suck". SUBJECTIVITY you douchebag.

From CARNIVAL OF SOULS:
RAIN
JUNGLE
I WALK ALONE

From AUDIO DOG:
A CHANGE IS COMING
MONSTER ISLAND

From TRANSFORMER:
CRAZY
DON'T TELL ME SOMETHING

From BK3:
HAND OF THE KING
DIRTY GIRL
AND I KNOW

Hilarious that you thought you were winning anything.

Also, funny that you think Bruce was such a good writer.....

Again--where were the singles/videos with Bruce's names on them????? Where! Come on. Waiting!!!

You're not proving that Bruce sucks, all you're proving to me is that my initial claim that u are Vinnie was correct.

Jungle from Carnival of Souls, which I believe charted somewhere in the top 10 on the US rock charts. But don't quote me on that...I wouldn't want to prove you wrong or anything.

Kapow, jagoff.

Do you EVER get tired of being wrong? Cuz I NEVER get tired of being right!!!!

Shithead!! Sing it with me now! You're a moron and shithead!

Jungle from Carnival of Souls, jagoff.
!

Bruce wasn't in the band that the time of the release of that cd.

I'm only counting cds that were released when Bruce was in the band!

Not a cd that was never going to be released and was only put out there because it leaked on the internet.

And wow, a song from that album was played on rock radio after KISS was back and as big as ever.

Funny, even with KISS being back it couldn't save that turd of a cd.

Carnival Of Souls - The Final Sessions: 181,000

So again, what songs did Bruce write that were big hits/concert staples/ turned into music videos during his time in the band?

Hell, if Bruce didn't suck so bad--maybe they wouldn't have had to resort to putting the makeup back on.

How duplicitous of you. You can't win so you change the rules. Jagoff.

No...you are correct. They did not release any Bruce co-written songs in the 80s. I give a tip of the hat to you, squire for your cunning and your obvious superior taste. As I said, if I had studied music theory at Berkley as you did and ran the most powerful music publishing business on the planet, I too could speak with such authority on what is a well written song and what is trite garbage. Alas, I am a mere baccalaureate. How could I have ever dreamed to match tastes with one so learned?

Do you think this guy actually believes himself? Jagoff.

No, changing the rules. You knew exactly what I meant. The point being, Bruce didn't contribute anything during his time in KISS song writing wise.

Some album that comes out after the Reunion and KISS is back bigger than ever is supposed to matter??! Please!

King of The Mountain is a great song!

I like the Crazy Nights songs too! Especially "Walls", probably Bruce's best solo as well!

You are all wrong. Ass Pimple has made the final decree that Bruce has written nothing of value and his judgement supersedes all others.

As I've mentioend here before, I have re-listened and enjoyed Asylum and Crazy Nights this year. Great albums.

Not as good as either VVI, but really good and only the stigma of being KISS kept them from being as big as Jovi or Leppard. They had too much 70's baggage, but they did ok. More albums with Vinnie would have eventually gotten over that and world domination could have been had.
