This is called All Systems Go Unmixed. It also features a version of Shoot U Full of Love with Mark singing.

Re: All Systems Go - Unmixed
Ya know, I think I get what Vinnie is saying about the final mix of the album being tamed down. I was listening song by song to each "album" and the rhythm guitars on the unmixed are definitely have more distortion, crunch and are higher in the mix compared to the lead vocal. There's also several little flourishes edited out of songs from the unmixed to the final. It'd be interesting to hear a version with the more extreme guitar solos he talks about just to compare.
On a different note, I loved being able to hear the rhythm guitars and the rhythm section clearly without all the layers of lead guitar. Those songs have some great melodic stuff going on, some great changes and some nice hooks that get completely buried in the final mix! That guy can really compose music.

Re: All Systems Go - Unmixed
JUst had a listen to this......and boy, what a difference mixing can make! And I agree whole heartedly with Vinnie that Mark's voice is and was so wrong for this record. And I now know why I don't hold this album in high regard when compared to the first album. I'd love to hear this rerecorded as Vinnie has 'promised' but I guess with Vinnie, you gotta take anything he says with a mandatory shovel of salt!
Re: All Systems Go - Unmixed
Mark is clearly "screeching" and forcing his voice into those higher registers. He hits the notes, but it's clearly not his singing voice. Almost like a vocal trick. Fleischman could clearly sing those notes powerfully and confidently. I think with the music and compositions, Fleischman's voice just gave it that credibility.
I think Mark's voice was great for and worked well with the less "serious" tone of Slaughter. (Serious isn't the exact word I'm looking for, but hopefully you get my drift.) I did love and continue to like Slaugher's first two albums.

Re: All Systems Go - Unmixed
Me too. I bought all their records and each one has at least one great track on it. For some reason one song that I think Mark sings great on is "Old Man" (not sure what album that's from)....I always liked that song for some reason....I did love and continue to like Slaugher's first two albums.
Re: All Systems Go - Unmixed
I don't remember that from either of the first two albums. Was it maybe on that covers album they did? Cover of the original song Old Man?
