Mark actually sounds pretty damn good on this... weird how much his voice started going downhill during Slaughter.

was it pro shot, or split out from the rest of that full-length club gig footage? i'd definitely be interested in a pro shot version.

Guys,
Please forgive me but Mark fucking sucks on this. I will agree that in the studio on All Systems Go and the 1st few Slaughter Albums that his voice sounds good but he just can't perform live. I have seen him perform live several times in person and others times on videos and he is just terrible live I'm sorry to say. The studio does wonders for Mark but you can't hide live as we are all vulnerable with no protection. For everyone playing live can be supreme moments of brilliance when you nail it or too often the opposite in that you can crash and burn. We talk about Mark's voice being shot now but he never sounded good live only good in the studio.

Just my humble opinion sorry!

Mark was fairly good here but in the upper range, he wasn't so strong when he needed to sustain notes!

Yes, live, Mark is hit and mostly miss. But recording-wise, it will always baffle me how good Mark sounded in VVI with such stress and turmoil and how bad his voice sucked in Slaughter with such support and success. Maybe it was Vinnie pushing Dana to produce Mark just right.

To me, Slaughter was absolutely unlistenable.

THANKYOU!

I listened to the first album while drooling at the cover, then sold it for half price to a mate!

This is a rare performance where Mark kills it.
Yes, He overdoes it BUT who wants their Rock-N-Roll underdone ?
I have to give him credit for a performance such as this :

Slaughter was one of the worst things I ever listened to from that era.
I'm not a fan of LA metal in general but even among them, Slaughter was absolutely horrible.
I think some of Michael Jackson's music might be heavier than them.
The only attractive thing about them is the cover of their first album.

yes i didn't like Slaughter but some tunes were ok. I do think Mark's ASG performance was amazing. I know VV and engineer could have had a big part in that but it was brilliant for the most part in my opinion especially Love Kills and Ashes to Ashes.

I did not like ASG album but yes, Mark was great on it.
Although I prefer Robert Fleischman on Vinnie's music, I cannot deny that Mark was still better than 95% of singers from that era.
What makes ASG album less attractive than the first VVI album was mainly song writing.
It just didn't have energy and dynamic composition of 1st album.
Instead, it offered pop-sensibility and love ballads which I'm not a fan of.

first album was tunes vv had decades to write, second album was written in months I would say so thats going to be a big difference. I like Robert much better but I think Mark was more commercial and made songs more listenable to mass market only due to the pitch, nothing to do with robert being a much better singer than Mark, just a good fit for the time. Live was very sketchy from Mark though but he was still a kid too.
