Vinnie Vincent in Real-World References

Post by metatron »

Strong Bad Email #141
The "Half-Hour Death Metal Dungeon Hour" may also be a parody of "Headbanger's Ball," a metal-oriented music-video segment on MTV that aired in the late 1980s up through 1994. Headbanger's Ball had a reputation for disappointing metal fans by claiming to play hardcore metal but often favoring videos by such pop-metal acts as Mötley Crüe and Poison. "Half-Hour Death Metal Dungeon Hour" also plays on the name of MTV's "Half-hour Comedy Hour."
Strong Mad's death metal lyrics are a reference to three film and television actors whose last names begin with "D-e": Danny DeVito, Robert De Niro, and either Dom, Peter, Michael or David DeLuise.)
The "Winnie Wincent Inwasion" is in reference to the Vinnie Vincent Invasion. Vinnie Vincent formed the Invasion after leaving KISS.
"Schlaugh-ter" is probably meant to be a reference to Slaughter, a hair metal band formed near the end of that genre's mass popularity. Interestingly enough, it was formed mostly out of former members of the Vinnie Vincent Invasion.
"Vinger" is more than likely a reference to Winger, an oft-ridiculed hair metal band most famous for songs such as "Headed for a Heartbreak."
MTV had a show called the Heavy Metal Half-Hour in 1987. It later became the Hard 30, then disappeared entirely.

VOYAGE OF THE ROCK ALIENS / Vinnie Vincent / 3 Speed's version of Back on the streets from this movie..

Listen to it at http://danniiparis.com/

This movie is an obscurity but I was lucky enough to find it at my local independent video store and I am a big fan of Pia Zadora so I rented it. It is actually a musical, though very campy and goofy and by no means polished or well-done. However, the atrocity of the film-making is what makes it so much fun to watch. Pia Zadora does her best as Dee Dee, the love interest who wants to be a rock star and she has many hilarious musical sequences, perhaps the best being "Real Love" and the hit duet "When the Rain Begins to Fall" with Jermaine Jackson. If you like a good flop and some strange 80's new wave music, then rent this and you will be laughing and scratching your head for days.

2. Little Bit Of Heaven (04:02)

I saw Vinnie Moore last year with U.F.O. and he was incredible. He's too smooth to be an Invasion, he's more like an ice cream float.

1) Paul Stanley gave to Vinnie Vincent the sign of the Ankh. On his face Vinnie painted this Egyptian symbol for everlasting life. Stanley was wise, given the departure of Space Ace, to acquire a virtual immortal who would, and will, live forever.

That was very cool. I think I've found Ladd and have invited him here, he sounds like a big Vinnie fan.

That guy's got a really nice voice.
Promises made, crying in vain, all empty. Never accepting the blame and not letting go of the shame. A river of tears, as months turn to years, all wasted. On someone not willing to change. Now only a shadow remains! :(

It's very difficult for me to read anything in a non-sarcastic manner . I'm a bit jaded and have a twisted sense of humor. Only if the individual prefaces their comment can I take it seriously.
