What's the story behind this ?

I had heard that Vinnie had purchased the rights to the Eric's Fox make up.

Vinnie trademarked /copyrighted the Fox make up. You will notice that Kiss released toy figures under the name 'CREATURES' a few years back. YET,in actuality the dolls were from the 'Unmasked' tour. Kiss used Eric's FIRST Fox make-up design that was only used at ONE SHOW (Roseland-Carr's first show with Kiss) to GET AROUND the fact that Vinnie owned the design. Kiss called the series 'Creatures' most likely as a JAB at Vinnie.

I think many Kiss fans would be offended by anyone other than Eric wearing this makeup! AND I don't mean to offend Vinnie by saying that. It's just the way it would be. I do realise/speculate that Vinnie must have been a good friend to Eric in his last days combined with Eric's anger with the Kiss machine that he gave the rights to his makeup to Vinnie. Watching someone you love dying of cancer ain't nice! So a tip of the hat to Vinnie if he was there for Eric!

P.S. Damn Vinnie! Why did you "flash-out" the headstock on the Washburn? That would have been the best view we'd have of the decal!!! LOL

Vinnie is not mentioned in Eric's story other than mooching meals during his time with Kiss.

Bruce and Christina were ther as well as keyboardist Gary Corbett who was tight with Eric and no longer talks to Gene or Paul.

Who knows how Vinnie got Eric's make-up rights, did Eric even own them? If he did his family sure would have wanted them.

It is also bad form for Vinnie or anyone else to use it like that. Eric was a great guy who left us all too soon.

Interesting that Mark Slaughter notes that nice Eric was taken when there was another candidate Mark could think of to be taken instead.

I believe Vinnie used his own likeness out of respect for Eric and the Caravello family.
I believe he saw that G & P didn't renew Eric' make up right away and pounced on it . GOOD FOR HIM.

As far as the poster used- Was Vinnie trying to stir the pot with his fans or has he always INTENDED to play again and something ALWAYS goes wrong ???

Personally, I think this is Vinnie being a jack-ass in attempting to piss off Gene and Paul by rubbing their faces in the fact he 'owns' the Fox make-up. However, Vinnie supposedly 'owning' this trade mark actually doesn't mean shit because we've all seen the KISSOLOGY DVD (the cover clearly has this 'trademark' on it) that came out after Vinnie acquired these rights and I can bet you that not a single cent went to Vinnie as a result. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this was part of Vinnie's most recent law-suit against the KISSco.....him claiming to be owed $$$ for a trade mark that they used without his permission (I do recall seeing KISSology mentioned in some legal judgement paper-work that exists online).
In speaking to someone about this issue recently, I was informed that despite the fact Vinnie registered the Fox make-up, he doesn't actually own the trademark. I was told that anyone can register pretty much anything they like and claim 'ownership' of it, however the real "fun" begins when you try to actually use it to gain a financial benefit. I'm sure if Vinnie tried using the Fox make-up to market one of his own products, Gene and Paul will be on him like flies to shit.

you can't tell because his hair is in the way, but this isn't the exact design eric wore. there was just barely enough modification done so he could get away with using it.

So it's a variation? Very hard to tell, it looks just like Eric to us.

All the posters are nothing but a poor photo shop fake made for vinne so he could prove commercial use of the makeup. the poster is a mosh of another poster. notice there is no facial detail where the makeup is even the 2006 is not even close to the real poster type. Not to mention the bogus ""gig"" in Nashville

If you go back and look at the providence he submitted for the Double V guitar trademark some one even faked harmony central reviews for him or he did it... All kinda fishy stuff is in there from his forum pal mike and strangely Tom Palecki and his wife...

Vinnie is a strange dude...he goes to all sorts of trouble over hopeless pursuits of ownership to protect his own interests...interests that do not involve him creating new music which is what he is best at (or at least, was best at)

Ace complained that they used his face on Tommy. I guess he doesnt own his either but do Paul and Gene? Now they can prove usage but did they trademark it originally?

On a side note, did anyone else ever notice the obvious mistake that McFarlane toys made by giving the Eric figure a red cape? Whomever the non Kiss fan was that designed it I guess thought Gene's cape in this photo was Eric's lol...

If the rights of the make-up of Anhk warrior are put deposited by Vinnie, why it was forbidden to use it, and what is what Kiss pays him when he uses it how on the kissology 2? It seems to me that Vinnie attacked them in the court for that!

What is that Vinnie has the rights on the make-up of the ankh warrior besides those of the fox, has you he the rights of them used and why Kiss forbade has Vinnie of used his make-up after Stockholm in 1996?
