The Pattaya Hard Rock guitar

Post by Genebaby »

I've been in the region for a few days and now I'm headed to Pattaya to see the guitar that used to be in Cardiff.

I'm staying at the hotel so hopefully they will be cool about my interest in the display.

I've had a quick look at the guitar now.

The finish is pink with a pearl and doesn't seem to be refinished. The back and fins are dirty and chipped and under the (definitely not original) trem their looks to be some hacking.

I will ask later if I can have a closer look.

Pics later.

Good job!
Judging by the frets, this guitar doesn't seem to be played a lot. Is is correct?

when did jackson start putting made in usa on headstock? i see non from 1984 with it on.

now on the pattaya jackson it apears to have holes next to truss road cover. the original has a square cover, could that be some sort of lead?

I know! I can't get a picture but there is another like that screwing it in from behind.

If this was Vinnie's real KISS guitar it would be a travesty.

I think no, it is not, it was never gold, or a different color pink.

I think Vinnie faked it.

That is a Jackson JT6 Floyd, released late 1987 or so.

Vinnie used the very original Floyd without fine tuners.

Did Jackson give a few B-stock or C-stock RR guitars for the Boyz are gonna rock video in 86? That would explain why there's no number on the fretboard.

yes its possible one or two for boyz are gonna rock video. My feeling is that all the ones he sold to hard rock /juliens auction are guitars for the boyz are gonna rock video as they were trying clone the vv model at the time which explains the matching pink headstock. My feeling is Jackson supplied RR V's for the video or vv picked up a few cheapies and had the painted. There is a very slim possibilty his one of his kiss RR'v's was also resprayed for video but i doubt it.

but the tremolo was released after boyz are gonna rock video. I wonder if decible geek can ask Mark what he remembers about the rr v's in that video and where they came from.

the only thing in VV's favour is I don't think too many reverse sharktooth inlay RR'V's were around after the prototypes, I am not an expert but I didn't see too many mass produced Jacksons with up side down inlays. Thats the only thing confusing me but for sure they could be made. The director of Jackson said that guitar he thought wasn't even made by Jackson and he thought it came from Ed Roman rip of shop

I sent an email to the hotel and got a call from the manager. He explained that due to damage from customers the new policy is to encase everything on display. They are unable to open it, it comes from the USA sealed.

So after Cardiff it went home, was repackaged and sent to Pattaya. There is a process to seal all displays going on still.

He will be passing on my comments to the memorabilia people in the US, so we will see what comes out of that.

Things are getting a little more interesting.

I noticed last night that in some LIU tour photos where I have pics from the same night Vinnie is using both a pink and gold Rhoads with reverse inlays. Two guitars at the same time with reverse inlays, one of which used to be gold.

This means there are TWO Kiss guitars with reverse inlays, not just one as Vinnie stated to the HR people.

Evidence still backs up that the two pink guitars he's publicly announced are the original, once gold, Kiss used Rhoads are not the real deal, just guitars made up to look similar.

Those holes on the headstock are from a string tree which Vinnie had on all his RR Jacksons, the truss cover was added post Kiss since they're generally not used on touring instruments. As you can see from this photo taken in 95 at the NJ Kiss convention it had the later fine tuning Jackson floyd installed and was missing the neck pickup

And here's a video of him playing it at the 96 Kiss Expo in Sweden

Guess its just just a guitar he had made for the 95-96 Kiss convention circuit

As you can see from the ill fitting truss rod cover in the 95 convention photo it is the same one as the Hard Rock photo

If it was a USA custom shop the jackson decell would be solid but it has a shadow, this was made in the Charvel San Dimas factory around 85-86 just before they shut up shop and moved to japan

Why did he sign it KISS '84?

That stuff rubs off pretty easy, I doubt it would have lasted a gig
As for signing it Kiss 84, well he couldnt sign it Kiss 86 when the guitar was made as people would have called him on it haha

At best this is a backup guitar from the Invasion/ASG tours at worst its just a guitar he played at some Kiss conventions

But this is definitely an 85-86 Charvel made jackson

That's my point, why did he sign KISS 84 like he wanted to say that he used that guitar in KISS. But it's a later model.

To make it look like it was his favorite KISS Guitar, he used that in 1984 during the LIU Tour
i remember reading that he was trying to sell it to a fan.

HERE IS PROOF WHY HE FAKED IT AND SIGNED IT AS 1984 !!!
TOTALLY BUSTED DOING THE SAME HE IS DOING TODAY AS FAR AS 1996 !!!

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic ... Usw-dUnCPw

" A German fan, who wanted to buy one of his guitars from the KISS-days. After Alex had
already paid him $ 1.400,- in advance, he found out, that the guitar is
a 1986/ 87 model (one that he has seen as a second hand guitar in a
guitar-shop for $ 300,-) and not from 1983 (those models are very rare
and expensive!)"

He also took the "KISS-guitar" with him without any
message for Alex. I've been told, that he always said, that it was a
KISS-guitar after it was already obvious, that it wasn't (different
colour, different neck, different switches at different places etc.).
He was supposed to give it to Alex.

The expo guitar who he tried to sell passing it as KISS 1984 is the one hanging on hard rock, he got busted by the german fan in 1996
but he later sold it to hard rock. 100% proof based on the picture, you can see exact controls, no doubt its the same guitar.
He buys any guitar for cheap, respray pink and say that those are his KISS days guitars.

Plus he told hard rock only one reverse inlay from kiss. Signed declaration proving fraud beyond doubt.
It's disgusting but typical vv stole $1400 deposit. Never ever give vinnie a deposit or money before a service. If anyone learns anything don't do that.

Its really sad that this behavior is from one that we have looked up to and admired. Yes i said admired because the cool 'ankh warrior' turned out to be a complete...I dont even want to say it. The worst part is (for him) is that all that he going to be rememberred for is the dirty businesses of his. Hes been scamming people for a longer time than his musical career. Great achievement Vinnie! You went from hero to zero...

The white tune-o-matic Jackson looks to be from 82/3, it appears in the Charvel/Jackson catalogs from 83 and with Vinnie endorsement in the 85 catalog

http://support.jacksonguitars.com/catal ... atalog.pdf

Its possible it was used early in the COTN tour
