CNC machines

Post by poserboy71 »

The man himself, Floyd Rose, was selling off bits of a shop a few years ago . My buddy Tom was thinking of purchasing a CNC machine off of him. I don't think Tom bought it.
I know a little about what the machine is capable of and that they are expensive. How difficult are they to get ?
Do most guitar companies use these? Which guitar companies don't use them ?

CNC is a good way to get necks and bodies up to a certain point in the building process. Someone has to carve and cut those suckers, it may as well be a machine and then a person can take over to do the finishing touches.

I've got an all hand made guitar and it's awesome, my best one, but I have no problem with their use.

I think most shops that are decently large would use them, it makes sense. It's just an extension of using a router with a jig.

Due to cost the one man shop type deals probably aren't using them. These guitars take longer to build done the slow way of course.
