What is your preferred guitar pick to play with ?

Although I have become less picky and use certain picks for certain sounds, my GO-TO guitar pick is still the purple beveled edge Jim Dunlop 2.0 mm pick.[image]http://i.ebayimg.com/images/i/281717477 ... -l1000.jpg[/img]
I also love the old Fender Extra Heavy picks that were stamped instead of screened.

I can't seem to use the solid plastic ones, too slippery.

I guess I got used to the textured ones so I use the black, 1mm Jim Dunlop ones.

My fist love were the red .88mm ones, which were different to the grey .88's. The red ones seemed to get phased out so I began using the 1mm blacks so I could always get new ones.

like Rick(but less handsome, of course),i use different picks for different sounds and situations.

I've used everything from felt to metal, according to what i was playng.

For the textural guitar ,since often the effect changes according to the pick dynamics, i find using this one more often:

i also used the Dave control pick, it was nice.
a few times i've used an thin, round eraser to simulate fingerpicking.
I had also the Strum Rose:

i also tried the jellyfish pick and also the Stylus pick, good for practising,a bit unnerving for playng.
I found out that Herdinium pick are essential if you want to reproduce The Edge gritty delay lines, believe it or not(not my fault, a friend of mine is a fan).

Sometimes, i use the round part of the pick to get a different sound, and made for myself a heart shaped one to avoid hurting the inside of index forst joint.

I also had steel finger picks but can't stand them

GB, you can try the pickboy series.

Thanks Ankh, I've ordered a set of the 1mm nylon gripped Pickboy picks to try out.

I once had a Strum Rose, or something just like it, for acoustic guitar, I think I lost it by now.

I couldn't find anything on the Herdinium pick, what's special about it compared to others?

sorry, my bad, forgot the exact name  ,Herdim picks.

basically a normal picks, they have a dimpled surface on the round end, to maximum grip. The edge use the round part so the scratchy part scrapes the strings

Hmmm, I might be able to do the same with the nylon Dunlops I use, they have bumps as well, interesting, I never knew Mr The Edge did that.

I also find myself doing what George Lynch talked about years ago in a magazine. He uses the rounded side of the pick ( the part of the pick that comes to a point is aiming towards the bridge).
For people with ape fingers (Shrammy, I am looking at YOU ;) ), this enables you to hold onto more of the pick while the string sort of rolls off of the pick edge .

My choice for best guitar pick has to be the Dunlop Jazz III but the black one. Once I started using the Jazz III, regular sized picks just felt like tortilla chips!

Got a six pack (no not my stomach, sadly) of the John Petrucci Jazz IIIs a few weeks ago. I couldn’t see it after I grabbed it. My thumb and first finger ate it!

Ordered a 48 pack of my favoured Clayton Ultem triangles last week. Will be able to keep a heap of picks in each case so I never have to look for them.
But I said that when I got my last 12 pack and I think I only used 3 before losing the packet with the remaining picks.

Might sound boring but I so prefer Fender medium picks!!! They just feel different in my hand even in comparison to say a Jim Dunlop medium. The texture is just different and it is slick yet grippy enough.
