Surgery today

Post by Genebaby »

As some of you will be aware, I did a good job of breaking my ankle last year, which ended up like this:

Image

Today I head back to the hospital to have that metal removed, and after some healing time it should be better than it currently is with it all in there.

Removing 12 screws leaves a lot of holes in your bones so I have to stay off that leg for six weeks again so I'll be watching a lot of television again.

It's only day surgery so I'll be home later on, ready to be waited on hand and foot, ha ha.

Ha ha, that all depends on comfort levels, see how that goes.

I've been admitted now, just waiting for a nurse.

Thanks Kev, I'm in recovery now, got my phone back. Ankle hurts as expected.

I had this put off until after the KISS tour so now it's just time to heal and be better by Xmas.

Here's what they took out. I can't keep it, they have it destroyed.

Cool! Shame you can't keep them as a souvenir! When my older bro got his cartilage taken out of his knee (because they used to cut it ALL out rather than keyhole surgery and trim the tears like they do today) back in 1980, they gave him the 2 cartilage pieces to him in a plastic container, immersed in an alcohol solution! A year later and the alcohol evaporated and there was two dried up orange bits of blah sitting in the container! He still has them! LMAO

Hope it's a swift recovery!

I hope you'll get fine soon. A friend of mine also broke his ankle last year, playing badminton. He had to stay home for 6 months, and could stay up too long. Now he still have his metal pieces. Badminton is a real passion for him, and he won't be able to play for a while...

Try to do some chicken picking, if you have plenty of time! That technique is amazing and it'll change your life for sure!

Yes I know that it was and you may have shown me pictures last year too but it is staggering to see the braces and the screws laid out like that. Your going through a process and this is another step to recovery for you!

Speedy recover Vic!

Tell me about it man, that's a decent amount of metal for sure.

I clearly did a good job breaking the ankle looking at what they put in to fix it.

With time I'm hoping it will be as good as ever, and certainly better than when it was all in there. It just didn't seem to agree with me.
