John Travolta

Post by poserboy71 »

When recently asked about her friendship with the famous actor and the questions about his sexuality she said:

"Wow! I mean, my feeling about John has always been that we know and we don’t care. Look, I’m sorry that he’s uncomfortable with it, and that’s all I can say. It only draws more attention to it when you make that kind of legal fuss. Just leave it be."

Radaronline reported that John Travolta was first publicly outed as being gay when porn star Paul Barresi gave a tell all interview in 1980, since then several other men have claimed that they have had sexual contact with Travolta.

What would it matter if he has sex with men and women? Seriously, What is the big deal? He obviously has an arrangement with his wife. It really is horrible that people are still hung up on stuff like this. I may not agree with it but I refuse to condemn it. Just don't splash on me or my family ,don't hurt anyone, and you can do what makes you happy.
It actually pisses me off that this is considered news.
Actor Neil Patrick Harris handled going public with his sexuality (Gay man ) in an admirable way. He still plays a promiscuous heterosexual man convincingly and with great humor. It hasn't ruined his career.

Discuss.

Ok, I never knew that NPH was gay, I don't follow him that much but he's great on HIMYM and his cameos in the Harold and Kumar movies are excellent, especially the second one, hilarious film.

I'm not fussed about people being gay. As you say, don't splash on me and I'll be fine, lol. It pisses me off when people condemn it, especially religious people. And then some of the most outspoken ones are secretly gay too.

What does that tell you? Who wants to be gay? Nobody, you are just born that way. Who would go against their grain to make a lifestyle choice which can cause them self problems? That's what the bible bashers don't get. Someone gay being not-gay is as hard for them as for me to be gay. It's just how I am, and how they are.

Get over it and move on I say.

I agree with most of what you said. I don't agree with someone being BORN "anything".
I wasn't born liking hamburgers, guitars, and women. I DEVELOPED a taste for those things.
I believe all of the things a person enjoys is through development and choice.

i don't think even such matters should be of anybody's interest. And label can be good on marmalades, not on people.
As long as nobodys is abused or harmed, anything is fine by me.I know where i stand, my tastes, don't think anybody's taste or preferences could have effect on me in any way.It seems that the tribal instinct is still strong.
Live and let live.

Or...peace and love but don't mess with my garden.

Also, why on the earth actors or rockstars should be public about what they do outside the limelight is beyond me.The whole system is crazy. But this topic only would need a whole thread altogether.

And, for the Bible bashers out there here it is, taken from the net, a few years ago:

Dr. Laura Schlessinger is a radio personality who dispenses advice to people who call in to her radio show. Recently, she said that, as an observant Orthodox Jew, homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22 and cannot be condoned under any circumstance. The following is an open letter to Dr. Laura penned by a east coast resident, which was posted on the Internet. It's funny, as well as informative:

Dear Dr. Laura:

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other specific laws and how to follow them:

When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15:19- 24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?

Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?

I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? - Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Your devoted fan,
Jim

I remember that response to Dr Laura. CLASSIC !!! :D :D :D

My point to this post was that ALL people should be PROUD of who they are and not let a society shame them into being embarrassed about who they are and the choices they make.
Celebrities do not owe anyone explanations. Common people do not as well. A straightforward "Yes I am " or "No I'm not" defuses a lot of ammunition.Simple as that. Refusing to discuss things leads to "tribal mentality" or "HERD" mentality  amongst people on the outside of the situation that care enough to discuss the issues. Honesty is not a career killer as has been proven. Ellen Degeneres ANYONE???

Heck, I believe that if Bill Clinton would have just admitted he received blow jobs in the oval office , people wouldn't have cared. It turns out that people forgave him anyway YET he has the "stain" of an impeachment on his Presidency. Why? Because he lied about it under oath.

Travolta did a skit on SNL a few years back where he played an effeminate vampire that insists he isn't gay. The punchline to the skit is hilarious !!! Youtube it.

As far as how this relates to this forum, I am not insinuating anything about Vinnie and would never do so. I am simply showing how the truth gets a lot of people off your back. This example is a statement about every aspect of life and not just sexuality. It is well known that our curiosities about Vinnie have hurt his feelings enough to the point that he doesn't want to make music or appearances anymore. He doesn't owe anyone anything ,but, the truth about all the rumors that surround him may just set him free enough to be confident to rock again.

I love that Dr Laura response too. Read it a few years back, so good. You tell it to a bible basher and then they tell you not to take all of the bible literally. So which is it? It's either the absolute way to live your life, or it's all fake crap you should ignore. It can't be one or the other, you can't pick and choose which bits to live by and ignore the rest.

Anyway, I digress.....
