Quentin Aaron Davis

Post by Slayer »

I received a message through You Tube today from Quentin Aaron. He told me that he hasn't social networked in 4 or 5 month's and had lost all his addresses. He had been trying to find this forum at the old server and thought that this forum was gone.

I gave him the address here and invited him to come back, do some reading and make some responses where he might feel inclined. He asked how Dino was doing and seemed unaware of any recent Cusano related developments.

If he drops in we will see if he has anything to say or comments to make.

his you tube website is here:

I am extremely pissed off. Is there anything else I need to answer to? The thing is with Rick I don't blame him for investigating when it comes to his wife anyone would. Rick I hope we are cool now. It still pisses me off that I was thrown into the gear of some shit I didn't do. And in fairness who keeps these internet games up, who is out there messing with, and hurting people. Not me. People took it personally it seems just because I'd not been online, Im sorry people thats not enough reason to me, to let imaginations start flying. And I don't mean any rudeness with this but what happens when some other member here doesn't sign in for a while does this mean they are Vinnies guitar tech, and on tour with them? I can promise you one thing if anyone had been offline for awhile and logged on to see insane accusation that person would get pissed. What if Dino didn't come on here for months,he logged on to see and discover he was Vinnies guitar tech, I don't imagine he'd be too happy would he, and he would probably be a little pissed off? It hurts to see people asking how much I sold my soul for especially when they are people I respect, and to feel like everyone is avoiding you like a plague. And by God if some comic book should come out make sure to buy me a copy. I think all this was uncalled for, me not replying to emails is not enough for a conviction, I usually almost always reply as soon as I see a new email. So when I didn't reply did it ever occur to anyone that I was not around a computer or there was a reason for it? Hell no judgement was stamped on me by someone I see as a friend. Rick at least gave me a chance.

To take you back a few months. In nov I started seriously going with the idea of opening a comic shop, and looked at a few small cheap building here. With the price of rent, and utilities I wouldnt have made much, and for the most part the store would have been making enough to keep it open. The store was small but there would have been 2 glass wall displays on both sides of the wall, and one floor display. The only thing I had to do was order comics from the distributor. The comic market is really bad in terms of sales, and I would have been limited in the number of copies and books. 1 wall would have had all 80's collectible toys, mostly 80's transformers, I sold all of those and luckily I sold them when they're value was high. The other side of the wall had alot of lego comic oriented stuff. The stuff that sold the best was the Lego stuff, and believe it or not out of anything those figures go up in value very quickly. Early december I began ordering alot of the stuff on my website. Most the stuff didn't come in til around feb. I decided to make the single store into two. Something else I do now is I'm trying to join alot of affiliate programs. There are quite a few free webhost out there. I had the idea to buy a few domain names, and put as many affiliate banners on these free webpages as possible. People talk about there is no money in the economy here, and it's not true. I see people spend lots on collectible stuff cause I sell it to them. Most the people that buy this stuff are adults. Very seldom does anyone buy for kids. If you guys have kids that are into this kind of stuff I'd be happy to cut you a deal on the things I sell off the site, and can ship it out to you for basically nothing. The blue & black Batman figures are the only ones I have to really have to sell for more. They are extremely rare now, and worth more when the figures have never been assembled. A few months ago people were paying $15 to 25. Toy stores online now sell them a few months later for as much as $99 a figure. I'm about 20 to 30 cheaper than alot of those stores. The only things I dont keep in my house are the really big sets. And just a few figures come from adult collectors. I keep a small collection of various 80's toys. Sometimes I go to thrift store, and find some awesome stuff. I found a tf I bought for 25 cents, and sold it for $45. But I only get stuff like this when its in extremely good condition. I don't have alot of comic stuff, but if things go well, early next year I hope to expand the shop and carry monthly comics. For my ebooks I'm getting this program by scansoft called Naturally Speaking. It allows you to talk into a mic, and type by voice instead of using hands. Using this I can assemble Ebooks very quickly. I wrote a story called "The Dragon Prince" the only thing I haven't finished is the ending, and cover. Then my baby is coming out in ebook form called "Immortal Revelations" It's a myth about atlantis based upon what is believed to be the real history. I'd been working on that for a while. Most of it was written years ago, and soon as I'm finished setting up some of these sites I hope I get a chance to sit down, and finish it. I did really well on ebay months ago but due to the listing fees, and ebays unfair fees. I only list small things on there. I have sold stuff that went for over a grand, and I have more trouble with items that are 99cents, and non paying buyers. People also don't leave feedback even when you give them free stuff. I plan on listing a few things on amazon eventually as well. My mom started having some mysterious heart probs in nov. There was a week when I thought I was going to lose her. Sometimes now she has spells, and I pretty much have to force her to get it taken care of, and go to a doctor. Shes only 53 and in my opinion too young. It stresses me the hell out alot. Otherwise I'm trying to move, I have thieves who lurk around my house late at night, and its kind of creepy. Everytime my dog barks I have to make sure I'm not being robbed. Moving, and my moms health have been my biggest concerns.

Hey Brooklyn, cool to meet you. I for some reason stopped buying comics after Michael Turner passed. I have just a few prints, and books of his in my own collection, and some beat up old Image books. I got to meet him in 07 in La right before he passed. That was one of the coolest experiences ever. I kept trying to meet him at a few shows, and somehow would miss him. Finally in La he was taking a break after a long signing, and was signing books at a desk. I was nervous about meeting him, a guy that works at Aspen named Frank was standing by the display table, and I asked him if it would be ok if I meet him. Alot of artist in this placement would have prob told me to shove off. But he stopped signing to talk to me for a minute, and he was really nice, and I took a pic of him :). He passed away a month or two later. One of the last book I checked out was the Batman allstar with Lee, and Miller.

Sorry Brooklyn only DC fans allowed here at the VVFF!!!

And just to stay on the comic theme for a bit, the 2 comics any fan should buy, no matter which company they like are, Batman: Killing Joke and the Superman story, Kingdom Come! One day I hope to see them at the theatre or at least a cartoon/animated version!

Thanks for sharing that story Quentin that was really cool.. It's always so awesome to Meet your idols and in the case of Michael Turner that was so lucky that you met him before he passed away, he was way too young to go and very talented, such a shame..

Shram - I like DC too, marvel is my fave though :)

Lol Shram I knew you'd get in on this one. I picked up Batman Arkham Asylum recently. I forgot how cool that book was. I come across some of the coolest Dc & marvel stuff. I almost bought this Catwoman manga statue that was very sexy. I love Lee's version of Catwoman. I have got some Marvel cards I'm selling that are Fleer ultra from 94 & 95 most are in the nm/m range. Funny story for you, I had a tf I sold for $45 that was chewed on by a dog I used to have. The thing would be worth $400 had the dog not demolished parts of it, the wing had teeth marks, and scratches, and scruffs. Old Tf stuff sells like you wouldn't believe. People will pay alot for certain characters that are broken, fix them and turn and sell them. The dog did a number on it but the guy who bought it did not care and paid for a dog chewed Tf. Mind you he knew what was wrong with it as it was listed for parts. I actually sold a lot of broken ones for parts to a guy in oz, and most the people that buy alot of the tf stuff from me are there. Also these old Tf for some reason can be purchased cheaper there than in the states. Here in the states lots of people go to thrift stores looking for stuff of value. Very few people look through the toys, most adults tend to only notice things that look vintage but there are valuables just laying around that get overlooked. I picked up a few tf's for like a $1. I made 45 off one. I find all sorts of 80s stuff and in good condition. Stuff I feel I can't sell I take to the local Goodwill, and make a trip there every 2 weeks.

Hey Quentin, I'm a toy collector myself and have been collecting and selling toys online for about 14 years now.....do you have an online store at all? I'd love to check it out......

The Catwoman statue you're talking about.....is that the Bishoujo figure from Kotobukiya?

LEGO is a great investment for anyone with spare $$$. Loose/complete LEGO sets are often worth MORE than what they sold for brand new years down the track.

Hi Doc :). I do have an online store for the Lego stuff. Sorry this is a long winded post.

http://batbrix.com/

http://batbrix.mobi/

The Joker, Two face, Ivy, and Blue-Gray Bm I get from collectors. I currently have more of the black suit bm's. The most rare now are the blue bm, & bane. If you see a lego Bane that's never been assembled grab it! Some of those figs I don't carry from that theme like Riddler, and Penguin cause they are easy to find for cheap. All the minifigures haven't been assembled with exception of the catwoman, croc, and Alfred. The sets Ive listed are some of the last, once I get rid of those I don't think I'm going to carry that many just cause mint boxes are hard to get. There is always minor shelfwear somehow. Once those are gone I'm adding to the star wars figures. The sets coming out this summer are going to be super collectible. Theres a new Falcon, and Darth Maul infiltrator coming out. I'll have those. The things I don't have listed are the Batcave, and a few Bm sets which come from collectors as well. Most these collectors bought these sets in large numbers when they were going off the shelf on sale, and for that reason sell them to me much less than Ebay, and toy stores.

I have a mobile site that is for most the 80's stuff, right now it's kind of incomplete and looks very 98. In April all this stuff will be on Ebay. I only sell on there when theres free or 25c listing. The webhost will have mobile stores available soon.Theres a big development fee to integrate paypal in a mobile site currently. I have a few Tf's left over from my old collection (once had close to 400 about 5 yrs ago & sold alot of them off before the 1st movie came out) that have flaws like loose screws, and parts that came off due to this, weapons, and parts, a rare 84 Tai fong transfomer robot unfortunately a wheel was broken off on it. These were made for a very short time by the co. that did the Gobots, a few Gi joes, & vehicles, some of the first Tmnt's, few imcomplete lego sets from the mid to late 80's, and a few minifigures from the late 80's. G2 Tf's are crap, and very cheaply made, I have an Optimus, the materials used to make these were diff. than the old and these tf's tend to discolor, a few Thundercats, & M.a.s.k vehicles. I had some Voltron stuff that also went to Oz. And 1 late 70's Chewbecca. And some Nes games too.

I have a pic of the Catwoman statue. It was a really sexy statue that was a manga take on Jim Lee's concept. The top of her suit is unzipped. The coolest thing I have in my comic collection is a Michael Turner San Diego Print that is number 9 signed it was an Xmas present, a Supergirl tpb signed by Peter Steigerwald, a Danger Girl h/c that Campbell signed. An Elektra 8x10 print by Greg Horn, who also signed it. I have some autographed stuff from Playmate Brande Roderick too. That's my whole current inventory.

Hey Quentin,

I'm guessing this is it :)

Image

I recently picked up the Batman Tumbler set from local Big W (similar to Wal*Mart).....it must have been on lay-away for ever because this set is quite old. And it was discounted to boot! :)

This is my online store: www.figuresdirect.com.au

I wish I could sell toys full-time, but Australia is such a small country with a tiny collector population. It really is simply a hobby for me and a means of subsidising my own collecting habit.

Wow you have a nice store, and some amazing collectibles! And you got a tumbler in this day, and age you are lucky! lol The price on those is almost $500, and soon will go for more. I wish I could find something like that. The one person in the entire world that I despise is Michael Bay, and I can't wait to see how he ruins this film. Had he made the fan's version of Tf those movies would be much bigger than they are. The thing I hate about those films the most is they don't center around the actual Transformers as they do so much the worthless actors. Peter Cullen is the best thing about those movies, and the only reason I've seen them honestly.

I hear you man.....Michael Bay is such a douche. The TF movies are terrible.....particulalry the Reveng eof the Fallen....what an awful, awful film. I really struggle to comprehend how some people are given the $$$ to make movies. Paul WS Anderson comes to mind.....
