Re: Yngwie v Vinnie

yngwie is/was a great rock star. his playing though is/was a sort of 'rudimentary classical', whereas vinnie's choice of notes in playing is/was advanced beyond that. vinnie could have played for king crimson or frank zappa. i do love yngwie from alcatrazz. this to me is an example of 'peak yngwie':...

Re: Vinnie Vincent Special Part 4 - Decibel Geek Podcast

one of the things that stuck in my mind was that record company cat saying that vinnie would do these 45-minute guitar solos. is that true? the only evidence i have is that toronto gig on youtube, but the solo there is something like 5 minutes. 45-minute speedball jams in the middle of the show? rea...

Re: Motley Crue

i love this show, too. it was shocking to hear later, that maybe band didn't like it. (the story of tommy crying and all) regardless of any of that, the energy is just so, 'there'. it seems like maybe there are two videos of this floating around; 1 with all of the vocal problems (vocals dropping in ...

Re: Vinnie Vincent Special Part 4 - Decibel Geek Podcast

yeah, that's it. but if memory serves, it's actually the 2nd song from the podcast; the 1st song was some 'modern metal' that i don't know anything about.

but when this one - don't ever wanna lose ya - came on, i had a kind of flashback.... 'whoah that's new england!'

on another thread, i noticed that new members were expected to check in here. my name is andy. i'll bet vinnie is an awesome pedal steel player. what is his amp rig? 4x4x12, with 2x200 watt heads? pedal steel would be incredible through that.

Someone should make a Vinnie movie.

Has anyone seen 'The Devil and Daniel Johnston', 'Anvil', or 'Last Days Here'? It would be really cool if someone would make a Vinnie movie. Of course, Vinnie would need to be willing to talk. It would be great to see/hear Vinnie at the end of the movie, doing a gig. Anyway, I just got done watching...

In an interview, Jabbs once said something to the effect of, 'Uli plays for himself. I, on the other hand, play for the people'. I really can't argue with that. Matthias also said something like, 'Michael just jams all the time; doesn't really write any songs'. That's actually a kind of fair assessm...

Paul Gilbert is absolutely incredible. The only I miss from his overall body of work; is that it seems he never hooked up with a great singer. As a guitar player; there's nobody better though. Gilbert's 'got it all'. And, he comes across as a friendly, humble type of guy. Some of my favorite stuff f...

One of the things that strikes me about this series of videos, is Vinnie's use of the word 'pulse' to describe some of the runs. It looks like with the double-picking, it's not striclty up-down-up-down lather rinse repeat. And if memory serves, he mentions that during the double-picking runs, he wil...
