i'm hearing frontline assembly too. this is awesome stuff. 1031 is right that it would be a big hit in clubs. it's got an overall edge, and excellent percussion underneath 'organic' sounding guitars and bass. do you use reaper or ableton live or somesuch host? do you have hardware or software synths...

i don't believe that steve vai is a satanist. although, the story of frank zappa (vai's early boss) might have some interesting background to it; that is if you believe what dave mcgowan says about it. check out the 'center for an informed america' website, and the 'laurel canyon' series of articles...

yeah 'fooling around' might not be the right words, but on one of the youtube comments sections for the 'super8 cam' videos, it seemed like some people were basically saying randy was taken aback at the incredible reception to what he was doing.

the '75 show from winterland is awesome, and there are some great live recordings from '76, but the full 1983 rio show would be incredible in its own right.
