I think Sonic Boom edges out Anomaly by a hair because Sonic Boom is a more focused, cohesive album. Production, writing, style and performance on Anomaly is kinda all over the place. As individual songs I like most of them but as a collection they just don't mesh together. (Just my opinion.)

Good Girl Gone Bad & Thief in the Night were both great Gene tracks from Crazy Nights :) Some of the best Gene writing since Lick It Up, IMO...and then Hot In The Shade came out and he was back to mostly crap...thank goodness for REVENGE!!! Delaney's "pamphlet" of a book was more fun and had more detail in it's scant pages than the Casablanca book.
What sucks about the Delaney book is that I've read online that there was a LOT more written with a LOT more stories but for some reason(s) they were cut out or not included.

It's less R&B and more like easy-listening soul...which is fine, but the arrangements were bland and his singing was flat. I think a real producer could've livened up the arrangements and prodded a better vocal performance out of him.
