I've got 9-46 on my 25.5" scale guitars, and 10-46 on my 24.75's.

Seems to give the best balance between tone and playability.

Speedball Jamm sounds like it was recorded in his house... !

It actually sounds like a band rehearsal when you put a ghetto blaster in the corner on the room to record ideas as the band rehearses.

The playing is fast and intricate for sure but I'm not sure why the drummer bothered showing up.

Read the discussion on the Vinnie's Gear section. This guitar has been debated a lot on there, and whilst it's been completely gutted and refinished, there are several pieces of evidence that marry up with this being one of his two original gold Rhoads guitars.

Re: Vinnie's Hard Rock Hotel guitar

We discussed this guitar a few years ago based on the Cardiff Hard Rock pics and I for one was convinced enough it was legit. The other fact I noted was where the neck joint sits - if you compare RR models from 1983 to later ones the shoulders on the body appear about one fret further up the neck on...

Re: Definitive List Of Vinnie's Guitars?

I believe the toggle switches are a 3 way pickup selector, plus the pre-amp switch for the neck humbucker. It's difficult to mix active EMG's and regular passing pickups as the actives require a 25k pot for tone or volume whereas a regular passive humbucker needs 500k. Put the passive humbucker thro...

I can't see the video, but if its the Lick it Up promo, that's the same Jackson as in the Tourbook. In Lick it Up, it still has its regular Jackson pickups, as it does in the Tourbook, but by the time they filmed All Hell's, he had an EMG in the bridge.

You can't "coil tap" that DiMarzio unless you pull it apart and fit a 4 conductor cable, assuming that by coil tap you mean take out one of the coils via a switch to give a single coil sound. I put a mix of EMG bridge and PAF neck in a dual hum guitar (my red Rhoads in fact) and I had to run the neck pp through a EMG preamp then the pup selector and a single 25k(I think) volume pot to make both work ok together. The pre amp has a little switch on it, so I used a Vinnie style one knob/two...

I'm betting the fretboard on the Cardiff guitar is bone dry hence it looks light.

And here's why: The whole thing has been refinished, headstock included, thus losing the original hand painted gold logo. We can also discount the pickguard, trem and pickups as non significant, they are all "movable estate". What can't be disputed however are several things: - the guitar is undoubt...
