Sounds like fun to do some video, "BUT" I don't have a video camera or a mobile phone. Maybe it's time for WalMart. I'll check them out when I get a chance. I also have an account with Office Depot too. It would also be neat to have the ability to describe what I'm doing while I'm doing it. I will b...
Little by little I'm in the process of shaving the edge chamfers onto all of the wing parts and shaving the little blend areas where the wings meet the neck. I've also got the gold pearl blanks for cutting the "V" Inlays which is always a somewhat tedious process. That stuff is pretty hard and a bit...
If he ever contacts me again though I may actually build him another guitar. But the headstorck
is going to be shaped like a big dick so he can use it on himself.
Yes I still have a bit of anger holding on there.
Sorry if I missed your PM's. I always look at the top of the page when I open up the forum to check for PM's
but I don't recall missing any lately. I'll be more diligent in the future. I don't check out Facebook very often though.
Will be more often now.
Got a new VVV build starting in the shop now. My customer has asked me to build another Gold Leaf version. Will reveal the requester later. Below are the rough parts that i'll be transforming into another Gold Leaf beauty, build #2. Unfortunately # one is in the hands (maybe) of Mr. Vincent. Below i...
Aw, Great, Finally on the mend. Feeling much better this morning. Glad I've got Veterans Administration Medical. Got to spend 4 years in N. California at Beale Air Base during the Viet Nam War days and the VA paid for my College Ed. too. So, I'm dusting off the spiderwebs on the door to my shop and ...
Yep! I worked myself sick on that one. Last Friday came down with something, I don't know what? Finally able to get to doctor this past Tuesday and came home with bunch of pills. Now just trying to recover. Totally missed Christmas too, in bed for days. Hope all of you other guys and gals are ok and...
Arjen, there's a website that I use that with change a photo into a code that will open up in a forum. It's called imgur. The site is http://www.imgur.com So you just drop your photo onto a page labeled drop it here and then you can pick how you want to get it into code and they have some choices to...
Thank You everyone for your comments and praise. It's too bad that the white pearl, as subtle as it is, doesn't show up as much as I'd like it to in the photo. I guess we'll have to wait until Arjen gets it to hear his reaction. For Arjen, Christmas in October. Next step for me is packing it up and ...
Hi Guys, Almost done with Arjen's guitar. Finishing up wiring the electronics by tomorrow and then it will be alive . . . . Here it is with a big smile . . . . and I'll post a full shot tomorrow from the front. (minus the smile and a better background). And Wolfi, you are right! http://i.imgur.com/w...
Hey gang, the new case for Arjen's guitar is finally in progress at G&G Case Co. and I think it's going to be a beautiful thing.
Do stay tuned. It may be here as early as the end of next week. Will post a pic of course.
Thanks Birnie. I start the stroke at the T and end it with the top of the P then add the two vertical strokes and the rest of the last name. Been doing that for a long time and can't even remember when I started doing it. I think it may have been when I was at the Art Center College of Design in the...
A shot of the back side of the headstock showing the original serial number as used on the NAMM Show Guitar along
with my actual signature. Also I'm pretty sure that the location is as the original as well.
Here's the axe with 3 coats of clear curing in da booth: Tomorrow I'll wet sand again and add a couple more coats of clear. http://i.imgur.com/xspOC8r.png And the close up of the Head Stock: Interestingly enough the Vinnie signature is from a group of them that I used on the original NAMM Show model...
Actually the white base coat with sparkle pearl overcoat are already there.
I only had to mask off the areas that are remaining white/pearl. Once I spray the
gold areas and remove the masking I'm ready for final clear coats.
Progress on the White and Gold is here today. I've got it masked for the application of the Gold Flake on the shadow fins. First I'm going to lay down a background color of fine sparkle gold then over coat that with the gold metal flake to make it really "pop". Once that's done and allowed to dry a ...
Yeah! I like the green flames. Maybe too like blended bright white to yellow to orange . . . .
Or white into blue like a gas flame. How about rocket engine nozzle in the crotch too.
Although that might be a bit uncomfortable, ha, ha.
Getting close . . . . but I want to see flames shoot'n outa there. . . .
Still, very nice Dannii. Dig those metal shadow fins too.
Maybe next time I get to build a "92" I'll make up some polished Aluminum shadows.
I've got a long time friend in California with a CNC mill too.
Hmmmmm! Regarding the remark about looking "Super Sleek" I can visualize this guitar with a rocket engine
blasting it through outer space. Maybe I'll do a little Photo Shop work with it when it's done.
Hey PB, it's the opposite. White is the ticket. I'm going to reveal something I just learned while painting Wolfi's guitar and that is: I tried mixing some white into the pink neon as well as using the base coat white and it worked a lot better. On the W/G I will be using a bit darker lacquer primer...
More Arjen Axe progress. Today I applied the first full coat of primer on the guitar. and now I can see to take care of any little imperfections etc., followed by another coat of primer before I lay down the white base coat. Is this getting exciting or what? I really love this color coating time of ...
All of the Mill work and routing is done and I'm doing touch-up sanding at the moment. Next is priming and touch up sanding. Also fill and sand on any small imperfections and more primer. From there it's color application. Base coat white followed by sparkle (white) pearl overcoat and inter-coat cle...
In your post, that sounds like a "Send 'TO' (you) Address" to me.
Though you may have a fight on your hands from Arjen.
And to Son of . . . . I now have land mines buried on my property
and vicious Bob Cats roaming around just waiting for more food.
Son of the Ankh,
The guitar I built a while back for Metatron was built to 92 PEAR dimensions. And the original one for Vinnie of course.
While building the original 92 (#1) I created full size blue prints as well so that helped a lot building #2. So if you're
interested I can give you a quote for #3.
Typical artist at work here. I love what I do and the attention that derives from it.
And, knowing people who can appreciate the results.
PS, That goes for all of you other guys too.
Just to clarify the TM-1 issue: TM-1 was an actual, although short lived company. Diane's father got it going in Illinois but as soon
as the shit hit the fan he just let it run out the following December for lack of activity and fee's to be paid. So the Secretary of State
just cancelled TM-1.
I built the those first two Mini's several years ago and was working on a distribution deal with a company in Japan. I sold the first two (see photo) to the company rep and shortly after Japan's economy tanked. So much for almost had it. We had some really nice cases made at Reunion Blues in San Fra...
I have a Facebook page. I just haven't posted a lot of guitar pics on it yet. I also don't post much of anything else on it yet either. I've also been looking into putting a website together. I'm thinking of trying that site called WIX where you can make up a free site to start. They have a ton of t...
That is one of my "Mini" guitars that I'm also building for a long time customer of mine.
It's also semi-hollow with chambers just under the openings in the laminated front surface.
Otherwise the body is solid Alder, the lam top is Flame Maple with a matching headstock.
This shot shows the start of the fret work. I'm pre-sizing the frets and using fret nippers to shorten the end tangs so the main tang will fit between the bindings. Once I get them all modified I can press all of them into the slots on the FB. And after that it's trim all of the fret ends and file t...
